I bought a security camera for our house. Just one camera . I’ll add more later. It’s not cheap. ( $200 ) . It’s wireless, 130 degree angle, HD , night vision, illuminates up to 25 ft., audio, ( speaker and microphone) , and there’s a built – in siren

So, why did I buy a security camera? Most of you have read my 2 previous posts. This week, my car’s window had been smashed, and my dad’s had been egged. We have no proof who the culprit is, that’s why I can’t file a Restraining Order against my ex. At least, the culprit didn’t key my car. Thank goodness for small mercies. Even though my car is 10 years old ( a 2008 BMW , my mother’s originally ) it’s in mint condition. It’s so clean it sparkles. lol Just kidding.

Oh, yeah, I went hiking last week with my co-workers. Photo taken in Auburn, California. That’s yours truly in the photo.

My mother and I are planning to visit Japan in Oct. 2019. Well, when we went on European tour years ago, we bought our tickets and tour package 9 months earlier. I wonder why our 30-day packaged Euro tour is so much cheaper than the 10 -day Japanese tour, though. I mean, almost the same price ! ! Is Japan really that expensive ? Anyways, I’m already excited to see Akihabara shopping district , the center of Japan’s manga/anime/otaku culture.

This is all for now. I hope this will be the last post re that troublesome person. No news is good news, right ?

What’s in my purse ?

Hi there ! Renxkyoko Iglesias here.

What’s with the title ? Who the heck cares what’s in my purse ? Well, I do, because what’s in my purse is very important to me. a) There’s a set of car keys in there. It would be troublesome if I lost that. ….. I don’t have a spare set. b ) a credit card c) driver license d) 6 packets of condiments from restaurants ( lemon juice , ketchup, sriracha hot chili sauce, mustard and honey sauce fr. KFC ) d ) a $ 4 discount coupon for L’Oreal mascara … guess I have to use that soon, it expires on No. 10……. that’s $ 4, folks, so don’t judge ) e ) pen f) paper napkins from a restaurant ) g) a small digital camera h) $ 10 and some coins ) panty liner … too much information, I know i) a ROSARY.

There’s always a rosary in my purse , and a rosary hanging on my front view mirror. However, I’ve only prayed the rosary 6 times in my life. …… on the plane going to and from the Philippines in 2010 and 2014 and to Europe and back to the US in 2012. But I think I’m going to pray once more, before election day. I’m as afraid to be in the plane as Trump getting elected as President of the United States.

Hi, Renxkyoko Iglesias here, reporting for duty.

Actually, this blog post is just a reblog of the latest entry on my anime/ manga blogsite HERE. I deem it appropriate, as well, to be posted here on my anything – goes- blog . After all, anything goes here, right ? Well, this is about FYI animation business in the Philippines and the Philippines’ comics culture.. So without further ado……..

I have so much swirling on my mind that I don’t know which one to tackle first…….. Persona 4, the anime, or Chivalry of the Failed Knight ( which I like ), or maybe some thoughts on outsourcing of anime and cartoons from Japan and USA to other Asian countries. On second thought, I guess I’d write a bit about this outsourcing stuff, and Chivalry of the Failed Knight, that is, if I don’t get to write too much on the subject of outsourcing, which is a delicate matter for Americans……. This issue of outsourcing has , in fact, become a contentious subject among political candidates here in the US. These overseas companies are taking jobs away from Americans. To be honest, I believe that, too. Ninety percent of American cartoons are already produced in Asia, particularly in the Philippines, where Warner Bros. for example has set up a full-pledge animation studio, Toei, as well, ( Toei Japan is already based in the Philippines ), , Cartoon Network, Hanna Barbera ( almost 100% developed in the Philippines… Flintstones, Yogi Bear, etc, are made entirely in the Philippines, since the early 80’s ), Nickelodeon, Marvel, Universal Studious , and yes, Disney.

Marvel has so many Filipino illustrators in the US that they were allowed to create their own Filipino mutant ( or woman ) . Do you know that girl who can pass thru walls ? And there’s this big-muscled brown supposedly Asian mutant with a Hispanic name …. yep, they are Filipinos ( but not popular, teehee ). Oh, and Wolverine’s illustrator is a Filipino.

If the trend continuous, the Philippines may well become the cartoon capital of the world, according to business insiders. American animation companies, though, have been doing this in secret, and that’s quite understandable, given the situation here in the US. This has been going on since the early ’80’s. So guys, you may not like it, but Sailor Moon, One Piece, Slam Dunk, DigiMon, Dragon Ball, to name a few, are made in the Philippines, since the early 80’s. 101 Dalmatians, Tom and Jerry, Little Mermaid ( the TV series) Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, to name a few, are made in the Philippines, as well, QUIETLY and SECRETLY. However, Filipino illustrators are now clamoring to be recognized in the credits.

So, why do they outsource it to the Philippines, particulary from American animation studios ? 1. Besides the obvious one, ( the cost is cut in half ), 2. Filipinos understand Western sense of humor perfectly, and the nuances of the English language. The Philippines was a US colony for 50 years, and that’s why Filipinos get it. And thirdly, and this is most important, ( and sad, in my opinion ) comics has been a part of Filipino culture since the early 1900’s. I’m guessing this is an American influence on the Filipinos’ consciousness. The Philippines had been publishing comics since the early 20’s ( the most famous character since 1926 was Kenkoy, and his everyday life as a Filipino teenager in the 20’s ) , and since then, comics had proliferated. The Philipines, in fact, has been reading manga – like stories earlier than Japan. Some illustrated serials lasted years , and were avidly and eagerly followed on a weekly basis. The popularity of comics ( komiks ) was so widespread that the Philippines became one of the biggest publishers of comics magazines in the world ( second to the US ), pre 1990, after which it waned., and I assume, Japan took over with their mangas.

The illustration below is that of Filipino wonder woman DARNA, originally named Varga when it was first published in 1939, then morphed into Darna in 1947.

Come to think of it, Darna is sexier than American Wonder Woman. Why ? Look at the bottom bikini, It’s high cut, ha ha. Varga ‘s costume to Darna’s… you’ve come a long way, baby. Even in current standard, that costume it’s on the risqué side, don’t you think so ? By the way, Varga came out much earlier than American Wonder Woman. In other words, a Filipino woman’s place in Philippine culture was not typical of that era, especially in Asia. Philippine society is , in fact, matriarchal.

Here’s the thing…… I’m not saying Filipinos have comics mentality. Comics that time was a very cheap form of entertainment for poor Filipinos. Farmers taking a break from back-breaking work would seat under a tree and read. There was no TV , and no cinema in remote farming towns.

So, my last post was on April 26. That was exactly 2 months ago. ( Right, , Captain Obvious). Now I won’t give an excuse like I’ve been busy, yadiya, but I do feel I’m starting to lose my muse………. oh, alright, I’ve been busy. I’m putting in at least 10 hours of work everyday, from Monday to Sunday. I have 2 jobs, you know. Plus, all my free time is spent watching Netflix, mostly TV series that I never had time to watch when they were on, such as Poirot, Midsomer Murders, Fringe, Medium, 100s, etc., and animes such as Hunter x Hunter,( 100 episodes at 25 minutes per episode ) Moribito, and currently Inuyasha , which ends at 193 episode … I finished the whole dang thing yesterday, at 3 AM. Well, after work is the only time I have, so don’t judge. . I can’t multi task when I watch animes. They are in Japanese, so I’m pretty much stuck in the couch reading the English subtitles. About InuYasha…. it is addicting. I love all the characters, except, believe it or not, the main character, InuYasha. He’s a freakin’ moron, indecisive, and a two-timing scoundrel. I dislike him so much that I feel I just wasted 85 hours of my life watching this character being a stupid/ idiot. Die, InuYasha ! Other than that , the anime is one great fantasy/action/thriller story.

So, if you’re so busy doing your thing, Ren, why are you posting now ? Well, something happened a few days ago that made the wheel in my head churning again . My best friend “O” is supposed to get married on July 10, in Southern California ( I live in Northern California ), and I’m a ” witness” in her court wedding. ( not church wedding ) I already bought my plane ticket, and arranged sleeping accomodations ( lucky to have my brother living there ) …….then 2 days ago, I received a text from O that the wedding was cancelled, permanently. According to her, her ” fiancé” has been living a double life ( they’ve been living together for 2 years ) , is actually married, and has a child. I was dumbfounded. I hung out with her at their apartment, playing video games ( we’re not even done yet with Resident Evil, we both suck at it ), and yeah, the ” fiancé” was always there. And he was nice. What the heck. No wonder he wanted to hold the wedding at a place 600 miles from our city….. I wondered about that…… now I know. So, when exactly does he plan to drop the bomb before he commits BIGAMY ? What’s even more mortifying is the fact that this guy is a police officer ,and a Captain , at that. My best friend is also a police officer, by the way. Dang it. It felt like my own stomach got punched, so I cannot even imagine what she’s feeling now. I don’t know what I can do to make her feel better, besides trashing and badmouthing him to death. That scumbag. I’m not generalizing, folks, but seriously, we women always get the short end of the stick….. my friend and yeah, his wife, too. Worse for his wife, to be honest. Aaargh ! Oh, man . The heck !

This reminds me of another break- up, but this time, the douchebag is my guy cousin. He and his fiancée were about to get married….. church schedule already set, wedding invitations, check, wedding dress, check. So what happened ? My cousin had a co-worker who had a humungous crush on him since forever. The woman invited him one day to dinner after work as farewell gift and according to him, a closure on her love. ( my cousin was aware she liked him. ) He obliged….. the problem was, they had drinks too many, and I assume, the woman was desperate, and men being men, he got her pregnant. Was the wedding cancelled ? Yes. Did he marry the pregnant woman, ? No. Though he was threatened with a shotgun wedding by the woman’s family, he still refused, ( he consulted with my aunt …* my aunt is a judge* , regarding legal matters, like , was he legally obliged to marry her, and so forth ) Last news about him was, he and his ex bride got back together, not married yet, and he is supporting his child ) . I met him for the first time at a family reunion when we were in the Philippines last year. I almost told him, ” hey doosh, how’s it goin’? ”

My Euro Tour Part 20 Spain

Hello ! Renxkyoko Iglesias here !

I’ve been hella busy these past weeks……… exams, work, and stuff are getting in the way of blogging. As usual, there’s nothing on my mind at the moment, but then I’m always like this, right? I’m a slow starter. Funny thing is, when I get going, there’s nothing that can stop me from taking off. So, let’s see where this post goes.

My signature name here, Ren x Kyoko . It goes without saying that isn’t my real first name. The name comes from one of my most favorite mangas ( Japanese graphic novels) SKIP BEAT. Yep, I read mangas, and really, really enjoy reading them. They are drawings, cartoons, with very few words to read, and basically depend on facial expressions to convey what ‘s going on in the story. Did you get to read my Valentine’s post here ? It conveys a lot just looking at the drawings, doesn’t it, with minimum number of words, 13 short sentences, and really, the drawings say it all. Oh, I’m not rationalizing my fondness for stories with pictures. I read to entertain myself. That’s all there is to it. But, I have to admit some manga stories do lower the level of my IQ a few notches. Or, have irreversibly killed a few brain cells. ( Eh. I’m not worried about my IQ. I’ve been called a walking Encyclopedia once, and I believe I can give Jeopardy contestants a run for their money. )

The other stuff thar I read.

Quite a few mangas have scarred me for life, though. Like, what, you ask. Like Incest, that’s what. Like 2 siblings who are into forbidden love, and in the end, both comitted suicide. Or, twins who have fallen in love with each other, and have ran away to another country to be together. There are tons of forbidden love stories like these, though some are cute, especially those that involve love between two non-blood -related siblings. There are so many plotlines like these that it makes me think, is this actually a cultural thing in Japan?

Back to SKIP BEAT…… it’s a series that I’ve been reading for 6 years now, and still ongoing. It’s at Chapter 198 , to date, and the truth is, it’s been on going for 10 years already.. What’s amazing about this manga is that, the timeline of the story as of the last chapter is barely over a year . A chapter comes out every 5th of the month, and I tell you, I always get butterflies in my stomach everytime I turn on the computer to check if a new chapter has already been uploaded. That’s how addicted I am to this pure love story. It’s a comedy, too.

You know, I visualize myself already a grandma, sitting in a rocking chair, sipping hot cocoa, clucking my dentures, and still reading Skip Beat. ( *_*) For the love of God, hurry up and kiss already ! ! Gosh ! * like that’s gonna happen * (6_6 )

I did say I was going to post a few left-over photos of Spain. I hope a reader from Spain can recognize them. I don’t know where these pictures were taken, but I’m sure it was before our trip to Burgos, Spain. I was wearing the same dress.

Photos below are our Optional dinner at Barcelona, which cost each person $75, and includes Spanish Flamenco Dance entertainment. I think this was the best dinner in our 27 day tour……. a sumptous Spanish buffet ! The dishes were like the foods we cook at home…. estofado, paella, etc. There was even a squid soup dish that included the ink… the way we cook it at home.

Ooooh, there’s the black rice with squid ink. That’s how we cook it at home too. We saute garic, onions, lots of tomatoes, then the squid with the ink, then water…. then we eat it with rice, and the rice turns black in color because of the squid ink. Guys, it’s an acquired taste, but it really tastes good. Trust me.

There’s rabbit stew on the plate but I’m not sure which one. Rabbit estofado was delicious, it really was, but, it was difficult to swallow Roger Rabbit..

.Desserts !

I ‘m going to blog about the foods we had in Europe, something like a food critique. One thing, we had the best in Spain. And very generous portions, too. More to my taste, anyway.

After dinner, we watched a Flamenco dance group.

Oooooh, passionate dance, passionate people.

.That’s it for Spain…. the land of my ancestors. Beautiful country. Good-bye.

Renxkyoko Iglesias musing again………..

Today is Oct.15. I don’t know when exactly I can publish this, but I’ll try to finish this today. Wishful thinking, of course ,coz I work the whole day today.Anyways, so what am I gonna talk about this time? Oh , before anything else….. I reread my last post, and I felt horrible about that sausage remark. I’m sorry if I offended anyone. It was 3 AM when I wrote that, so I wasn’t really thinking properly. I could have erased that like I could have erased and trashed some of my stupid and totally inappropriate posts , but it’s history ( my history), so I have to live with that faux pas for the rest of my life. * bangs head on the table* ….I’m toast .

Ladies , you are all beautiful, no matter what size you are.

One blogger, LeeDevine, suggests I should write about the places I’ll go to in our Euro tour next year. Good idea.! That’s something to write about.

Don’t get bored, okay> I’ll be quick….. ( I hope )

Tour starts in London. We stay in London for 2 days, and these are free days, not guided. I want to see the Wax Museum ( Madame Tussaud’s ), King’s Cross Station ( that’s a Harry Potter thingy ^o^ ), changing of the guards, cross that famous bridge I forget the name, and eat authentic Fish and Chips ! ! ! I don’t know where else we can go in 2 days… maybe check out Harrod’s? Then we leave London , ride on a ferry to Amsterdam. On a ” luxury motorcoach ” ( that’s what it says on the itinerary ) we go sigthseeing in Holland, visit a famous diamond center, go canal crusing…… then we head off to Germany. It says we go to Rhineland and Heidelburg. I know what Heildelburg is , but what is Rhineland? A h, there’s no Berlin nor Munich… How can we go to Germany and not see Berlin? Oh, well. Next we travel into Switzerland by way of the Autobahn ( I thought this was a name of an automobile…. name of a freeway then , ? ), stay in Lucerne, ride a cable car on Mt. Titlis, enjoy the Alpine mountain scenery ( and burst into a song “The hills are alive with the sound of music….la di da….. ). What, no Zurich, either ? Booooo !

Then, Italy ! ! I’m excited about Italy. Know why? Coz we get to ride on the gondola and be serenaded by a local troubador ( O, sol a mioooooo…. la la la ) Ooooh, mama mia ! ! But first , we stop in Lugano to take a stroll, then drive to Verona to see Juliet’s house and balcony and stroll around the market square. Then, we go to Venice to , yes, ride the gondola, the water buses and see Venice at water level. We will also visit and watch Venetian glassblowers, and I’m sure I’m going to buy a glass souvenir, and have it personally “signed ” by the maker. ( We have one like that at home )………… after which we head for Assissi to visit St. Francis Basilica. Then we head for Rome. Ah, Rome…. the Eternal City… but , of course we get to visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum.( Dad told us some parts of the Collosseum smelled of pee… it really stank). Since we are Roman Catholics, I’m really excited to tour the Vatican, and finally see the Sistine Chapel, where I can gawk, to my heart’s content, at Michaelangelos’ Genesis and Last Judgement. Then on to Tuscany, then Pisa and visit the Leaning Tower, then to Florence, where we’ll have a walking tour of the city of the Medicis, and the birthplace of the Renaissance era.

Then we proceed to the Italian Riviera, then on to French Riviera where we get to visit a perfumery in Eze ( I’ll buy a bottle , that’s for sure ), then travel along Cote d’ Azur, then to Monte Carlo, Monaco, for night excursion, and dinner. Then we travel through France’s lovely scenery on the way to Provence, then Avignon, then Carcassonne. After which, we proceed to Barcelona, Spain. yay ! The land of my ancestors ! ( They’re from Segovia, though. Check out my post titled Who Am I and a few Plug-ins )….. Then on to Madrid, the capital of Spain, where dinner includes a flamenco dance show. Ole ! ! After Madrid, we go to Toledo, Burgos, then Bilbao . Mom’s gonna buy some authentic Chorizos de Bilbao, that’s for sure. Chorizo de Bilbao is a staple in our soups . Oh….. know what, there;s no such thing as chorizo de Bilbao. I guess it’s merely a kind of sausage common in Bilbao. ” Senor, do you have chorizo de Bilbao?” I’m sure we’ll get a blank look. It’s like saying, (and you’re in China, ) ” I’m gonna get me some Chinese food, or have dinner at a Chinese restaurant,” he he he. Or order some French fries in France., or French dressing with your salad. Ahahaha ! I wonder if they also call it French kiss in France. @_@

Back to tour…… from Spain, we proceed to France. First stop is Bordeaux, the wine capital of France. ( we’ll buy one or 3 bottles, I’m sure ), I mean, really, really sure…. coz here’s a pic of some wines in our house.

Well, our house’s just 30 minutes from the wine capital of the US, Napa Valley. We were there just 2 weeks ago for some wine tasting.

So, from Bordeaux, we go to Portiers, then Tours, Orleans, then Gay Paris. !That’s where the tour ends. We have 2 full days to explore Paris, then we leave Paris for San Francisco.. So, that’s it, folks.

Hope you didn’t get bored. But I’d understand if you did, coz I’d get bored myself, ahaha.

Oh, by the way, I aced my Physics test ! ! ! ! Okay, I got 95 %. I could have gotten 100 if not for that stupid trick question worth 5 pts. I got the correct answer, initially, crossed it out, and wrote down the wrong answer. The solution should have been the same , with or without Resistance, Gaaaah! I will let you know what I got in Chem and Bio later. I’m not very confident with these two, but I’ll pass, I’m sure of that, though not A’s. T.T I’m hoping for a B, at least. I focused my attention too much on Physics coz I know I’m clueless. My partner in Lab is the one who sets up the experiments. He’s a guy, so I guess he’s better at this sort of thing. I’m not a sexist or anything, but, I can’t even tell tools apart. o_o He got a B , I think, so I couldn’t tell him what I got. (~.~)

The Unwritten Rule, or Maybe Not

Here I am again. Hello, renxkyoko Iglesias musing.

Seriously, what am I going to write about this time? About debt ceiling? About how the US’s credit rating has been degraded from maybe 5 stars to just 2 now ? Although , the latter does have some serious implications on my parents’ pocketbook. You see, our next door neighbor just moved out. They bought a new one for $ 150,000, but sold their old home, with a pool, for $165,000. So, we’d think they profited from the sale? Nope. They lost a lot of money because 6 years ago, at the height of housing boom here in California, they bought their old house for $320,000. So, what has it got to do with us? Well, 6 years ago, my parents also bought another house for $ 350,000 ( with a pool, too ), and now, we hear that the value of that house is now a measly $200,000. In other words, my parents lost $150,000. Good thing that house is never without a tenant or tenants, so it pays for itself. We’re renting it out for $1550, and that’s also exactly how much we’re paying for mortgage. We’re not earning at all. We are , in fact, losing a few hundred dollars a month. My parents decided to pay for the tenants’ water bills, monthly pool maintenance, garbage/sewage fees….. just some perks as long as they stay in the house. But, this degrading of the US credit rating is a bit worrisome. This means , interest rates will go up. I’m sure we’ll get another love letter from the mortgage company. A realtor friend of my parents told them to just walk away from the loan but we have to prepare ourselves to lose our credit rating for 7 years. No credit card, just cash for all transactions. ( credit cards will definitely not be renewed. I’m sure even WalMart will not give us the time of day. ) ……..But of course , my parents won’t do that.

You know, I just read this manga titled Momo Lover. The story goes like this…… there’s this family of 2 sisters who are orphans. The older sister goes overseas to work, but comes back with a baby, named Momo, and hands the care of her baby over to her younger sister, then leaves the country again. ( But she doesn’t leave, actually. She stays for a while to secretly observe how her sister handles the situation. ) The younger sister happens to have 2 guys ( Shirou and Yomi ) who are in love with her. They find out about the baby, and volunteer to help the main girl. ( Chirei * Cherry* ) They are all high school students. One day, they decide to go outing at the beach. Cherie and the baby almost drown. Shirou saves the baby while Yomi instinctively saves Chirei……

I have this “bad habit” of checking out the forum to read the comments /opinions of the readers, and more importantly, to read “spoilers”, before reading the manga. If there’s an unpleasant ending, or sometimes, gut-wrenching episodes that I know I won’t be able to stand , then I don’t read it. Eh. I know that’s stupid, but that’s just me. I can’t help it. I try to avoid unpleasant stuff like that. Anyhow, there’s a thread there that discusses Yomi’s action of saving Chirei first. Each opinion is understandably againts Yomi. ” How dareYomi save Chirei who can survive, instead of the baby who is helpless?” That’s a natural reaction. But here’s the thing……… In the hierarchy of things, there’s an unwritten rule that the spouse saves his /her spouse first, even if the other one is his/her own parent or child. …. all things being equal, of course. If’ for instance, your spouse is too far to be saved successfully, then save the one closest to you. Another example is during childbirth. ……………If the situation calls for a choice between saving the child or the mother, saving the mother wins hands down. Even in court trials, the court cannot force the wife ( or husband) to testify againts the spouse.. The unwritten rule is now part of the laws of the land. What then is the point of all this? My point is, that’s how strong the marriage bond should be. When people marry, they become ONE ENTITY in the whole universe. You take a vow to be together, for richer or poorer, for better or worse, in health and in sickness, until death do you part.

I’m not saying married people should stay together forever, even if the marriage turns into an untenable relationship. Definitely not. I only have 2 reasons, though, if I’m the one to initiate divorce.

1. Husband cheats on me. Before I turn over my life, body and soul , to a man, he should get my my complete trust and faith in him. Once they are betrayed, lifeline is permanently broken. Why ? Because I do not forget nor forgive. The man’s presence will always remind me of his betrayal, an act that I know will haunt me forever.

2. Being in an abusive relationship, in words and in deed. It ‘s not abusive, Hollywood style, it is the real McCoy, where I am threatened with bodily harm, get yelled at and insulted 24/7. In fact, this is one of the very, very few reasons the Vatican will annul a Catholic marriage.

Other than these two, I shall stay married, for better or for worse, forever. Unless, of course, husband divorces me. That’s fine. I’d rather have that, than staying married and cheat on me. Hah! Do people think it’s only women who are left holding the short end of the stick? If you believe that, you better look like this……

Because, mister, women are as capable of leaving men for guys who look like that before they can cry Uncle ! Men are also as likely to turn into simpering ninnies , pining for their beloved exes . Women do not even need men to have children nowadays. They can just go to ferility clinics and have themselves impregnated, give birth to a child, be loving mothers, and at the same time, live a happy single life, free from worries of trying to please a man every single day. ( Hey, hey, calm down , Ren… not all men are cheaters. there are more men who are as faithful as your Dad. Just choose well, and use your head all the time )

Ahahah ! I’m just musing…………. My heart does go out to those whose hearts have been broken, whatever the gender is. I live by the motto, Golden Rule. Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you. Oh, speaking of which, my sister’s boyfriend had a haircut… He’s almost bald now. He hehe …. Sis freaked out. We all did….. it was only Dad who approved. Well, he used to have long blond hair, longer than shoulder length, and it was always tied back. LOL ! This is so random.

Oh . oh! ! ! I just read 3 mangas. one is completed, 2 are ongoing. One is a Korean manhwa, by the same author as Ways of the Jogang Jicheo and The Boy Who Will sell Kisses for 5000 Won. The title is ” Die or Like Me ” , I wrote about the other two on my previous blogs. But this one, Die or Like Me is heart wrenching. Aaaargh ! I don’t think I’ll read this. I ‘ve seen the raws… oh. my gawd ! ! The main guy is in bed with another girl several times.. I mean, they’re both naked, so I assume they’re doing it. Oh, oh ! ! I won’t read this ! ! Damn ! ! *ponders* You know what, if there’s a guy who wants to go into a relationship with me, he better not tell me his past, if there’s any. I’d prefer to be blissfully ignorant; The thought of him doing it with another girl will forever haunt me. I don’t think I can handle it. This is one of my hang-ups.I know it’s unrealistic in this day and age, and I hope I can get past that, but , right now? I don’t think so. Ah, uh. A guy friend tells me it’s called mental voyeurism. I had a classmate last year , a Filipino, too, whom I liked, and I was very sure he liked me too. Even our classmates thought we had started dating. But then, one day, he told me, oh, so casually , that he used to live with his ex girlfriend. I don’t remember how that came up. …… Oh, I remember….. our tenants were moving out, and I thought he was living alone in an apartment, so I asked him if he wanted to rent the house, and he could just get roommates, like our students/tenants. ( The house is located near the university.) And he said, “Oh, no, I live in a house now with my cousins as roommates, and the house is owned by a relative. I used to live in an aprtment with my ex.” I was dumbfounded and went into complete shock. Do you know how it was like? Icy chill crept from my head down to my toes. He was still speaking, but I couldn’t hear it… the sound seemed to come from far far away. In a second, I went into total ignore mode. I stopped speaking to him, ignored his calls, and wouldn’t even look at him. Good thing school was almost over. But I know he was as devastated as I was, but , ” sorry. It’s me. Can’t help it. it’s not your fault. ”

Oh, my. I think I should stop here. I’m not making sense anymore.

Oh, well.

Hello there ! renxkyoko iglesias here, musing…

I;ve been slacking, I know. But I’ve been really busy with this and that. This and that are of course my work

Actually, I’m reading another Korean manhwa ,”Ways of the Jogang Jicheo” that I’m trying to translate from Vietnamese to English, through Google translate. Vietnamse translations are super crappy. But I suspect it’s just Vietnamese that’s difficult to translate. Perhaps it’s a difficult language. But it’s surprising because I notice Vietnamese language has very few words . And maybe one word has several pronunciations, and each pronunciation has a different meaning ? ? The most common words are gia, gi, gio, khong, kho, cua cau co non, noi… chu, chau chac, di, dai, dian, ngoi,nguoc, etc. I swear these are the only words I read. To confirm whether Google translate is useless and not helpful at all, I tried translating Filipino language ( I’m kind of fluent in conversational Filipino) to English, and what do you know, it was almost 98% accurate !

To compare:

Filipino language: * Google with asterisk* , my own translation enclosed in ( parentheses)……..

Oy, estupido, tarantado, gago, tanga, bobo! * Hey, stupid, flustered, foolish, idiot, simpleton ! * ( I have the same translation , except tarantando has a stronger meaning in Filipino, and bobo can also mean stupid and dimwitted)

Bakit mo sinira ang kotse ko? * Why have you destroyed my car?* ( same translation )

Doble cara ka talaga. * Doble cara you really.* ( You’re really double faced )

Akala ko ba magaling kang mag maneho? * I thought good to drive.* ( I thought you were good in driving.)

Bayaran mo iyan. * Pay that .* ( same translation )

Hora mismo! Kung hindi, ihabla kita. * Hora itself. If not , chargeable income.* ( Right now! Or else, I’ll sue you.)

Mabuti na lang , wala kang pasahero. * Fortunately, you don’t have passengers.* ( same translation)

On the other hand, this is what I go through with Vietnamese translation.

Ne… Den gio roi. Nau di thoi. * Ne… Gio roi den . Nau di thoi. * ( What the !#$%^& )

I rest my case. In one previous translation, there were only two English words.. constipation and toilet. So the rest of the dialogue was up to my colorful imagination and tons of patience.

Don’t think I’m crazy. So, okay, I am. \(^____^)/ Well, the last English release of this manhwa was in May. I’ve been patiently waiting for 2 months, and right now, I’m at the end of my tether . I really want to know what happens. So what’s in the story that I find really interesting? Well, it’s about a couple who are involved in an arranged marriage. The main girl is passive but it’s the main guy who vehemently opposes it, but for some reason, cannot do anything about it, and has to follow the family’s wishes and honor. The couple are very young, both high school students. The main girl moves in to the main guy’s home ( his parents are there ) and transfers to the main guy’s school,too. The main guy happens to be the most popular student at school ( rich and handsome )and has a regular groupie, 2 boys and 2 girls. The 2 girls are hopelessly in love with the main guy, and thus, resent the presence of the main girl. The main guy is oblivious to this adoration and is also resentful of his fiancee, and is actually quite cruel to the main girl. Not only that, the main girl gets bullied by the 2 girl rivals. The bullying is unbelievably cruel . She gets beaten up , like everyday? , comes home with bruises and the main guy doesn’t even care. It’s utterly frustrating and aggravating that the main girl takes shit from everybody, including her fiance, like it’s constant abuse ! she doesn’t do anything about it, and nobody seems to care. Is she really Mother Teresa? If I were the girl, I’d pick up a jackhammer and impale their heads . Let all hell break loose. Just kidding. Meh. Of course the story is exagerrated. Anyhow, the main girl is really not weak. The familes are steeped in tradition , and she has been told that the moment she enters Ja Euk Hyun ‘s household ( yep, that’s the bastard’s name ), she’ll be a Euk Hyun forever, even her ghost. No divorce allowed. !#$%^%^&* ! ! ! Here’s a sample of how she gets bullied.

And that is just the first of many. Of course she knows how to fight… she’s trained in the martial arts, but she’s not supposed to fight. That’s one of the douchebag’s and for some reason, her own’s family’s conditions. I wonder, how come nobody gets sued for assault in Korean manhwas? Over here in the US, real time, there is zero tolerance on bullying. Well, at least , in elementary……………. I have to confess something…* sweat drops *…. When I was in 5th grade, I was suspended for 2 days for bullying. Hey, it wasn’t my fault ! I got indirectly involved with my best friend’s shenanigans. So what was it about ? Well, there was this boy classmate… apparently, he was seen one time picking his nose. At recess ( about 10 AM ) , my classmate accidentally touched the booger boy, she screamed EEEk and touched me ( to pass on the germs to me ) and I touched another girl, and she touched another one. Booger boy saw all that , cried like a girl, and ran to the principal’s office to snitch. So, we four girls were called to the office and scolded by the principal, who had someone call the parents to pick us up, and told we were suspended for 2 days.

Ooops, I digress.. back to the manhwa.

And this next pictures portray the attitude of the main guy…. Grrrrrr ! ! The main guy is even handing over his fiance to his best friend ! Oooh, I wanna see how that guy will fall off his high horse and go crawling to the pitiful girl to ask for forgiveness ( and he will … there’s a scene there where the girl finally leaves him and he goes to her house and stays there, outside , ( the family of the girl doesn’t open the gate) kneels down, and stays that way for goodness how long, it seems 2 days , until he passes out. Oh, one more thing , the best friend falls deeply in love with the girl, and the bastard fiance starts to get jealous. Ahahaha ! That’s shoujo for you. So typical and cliche but I’m lovin’ it! !

I try translating this manhwa, but I thinknI’ll just give up. I’ ve seen the happy ending anyway, so, that’s okay.. Yep, I love happy endings. I try to avoid sad ones, or stories where the main guy hooks up with another girl, likes another girl, does not like the girl ( the unrequited love ) or heaven forbid, cheats on the main girl. Aaargh ! there are numerous stories like that. There were times when I unsuspectingly got to read something like that, and I was like, Shoot ! What is this! Noooo ! and I would just stop reading, and get really upset, and try to erase it from my memory. And I’d look like this……

Avoiding stories like these is one of my hang-ups. I’ve got a lot and being in denial is just one of them. I’m on Cloud 9. I don’t want to get off. Perhaps that’s the reason why I don’t go into relationships ? I’m afraid to get hurt. …. * ponders* ( Wow, that’s melodramatic ! Ahahaha ! So not me. I said I was shallow, right? Lol ) . But that’s true, though! ! You know, there’s one blogger here , a young wife whose husband cheated on her while she was pregnant with their first child! When I read her story ( in fact, it’s a series of stories ), it upset me for days. The OW ( Other Woman ) travelled 10 hours to meet up with her husband. Meanwhile, the husband reserved a hotel room. And, when they met up at a parking lot, they couldn’t even wait to go to the hotel, they almost did it in the car. (~~what the #!$%^&*&^% ! !~~ The thought of that would devastate me. ) Now, I don’t remember how the wife found out. Anyhow, they went into counselling session. The husband told her that if he lost her, it would kill him. ( Wahahaha! Are you ~~F#!%^&*& ing~~ kidding me? That’s what I’d say…. ) The therapist, in fact, told her ( I;m sure without her husband ) he’d do it again. Well! ! ! I’m sure the therapist knew what he was talking about and he was merely telling the wife to be prepared for that happening again. So, anyway, I commented on her blog…. told her not to let go of her physical appearance, start saving up, have money of her own, so that just in case that darn prick did it again, just kick him out of her life. Garnish his wages! ( Says to self… Alright, calm down, Ren…. relax, take a deep breath ) …… I’m okay. ….

Ahaha ! I guess this is enough ranting for one day. Oh, wait, before I say bye bye, have you seen the movie, “The Devil Wears Prada ? ” Unfortunately, my sister’s friend, my manager at my second job, has been transferred to another store nearby, and he has been replaced by someone who came from San Francisco. The new one is like that woman in that movie, and I’m Anne Hathaway. She’s only 30 -ish, but is very demanding and stern -looking. We’re now supposed to dress up all in black. * sighs* Let’s see what happens.

Hey, it’s me, renxkyoko iglesias !

It’s been a while , I know, but I have 2 jobs, and it’s been stressing me out. I mean , the second job at the clothing store has been stressing me out, that’s what. It isn’t like Abercrombie or Forever 21 ( where I buy most of my clothes) where people can afford to buy on impulse. We do get walk- in customers but they don’t really buy… they just check out the stuff, look at the tags, and off they go. I don’t blame them. Ordinary t- shirts are over a hundred bucks each. WTH ! I wouldn’t buy, either. So, you ask, where do we get the sales from? From ” clients”, that’s where…. they come in with appointments… they either call to make an appointment, or we call , to inform regular rich customers about our new deals. So, the phone calls that I make are actually the ones that stress me out. I have to make them come out of their mansions, show them our stuff, and make the sale. Have I made a sale since the 2 weeks I’ve been working there ? Yes, I have, about $ 5,ooo worth. I should be ecstatic, but I’m not. Another month of this and I swear, all my hair will fall out, or I’ll have a premature gray hair. Sheesh, this job is not for me. Seriously. Good thing I still have my day job at Baskin and Robbins. Once school starts , I’m out of BCBGMAXAZRIA. Yep,that’s the name of the store. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it?

Oh, hey, in my previous post, I said we had a beach property in Boracay Island in the Philippines. We just heard news that a star-studded NBA teams ( like Kobe, etc. ) are in the Philippines , and they are all now in Boracay ! ! We tell mom,”See ? You really need to do this , Mom ! ! ! We should be in business, pronto! ” My aunt, who is single, ( Mom’s sister ) is sharing with the expenses ( property is from my mother’s side ) , and she’ll be here stateside in August ( will go on Alaska cruise with relatives). I’m most interested in this coz my aunt promised to give me her share of the property, so, yeah, it’s totally vested interest on my part. * grins sheepishly* Good thing my siblings are not interested in Boracay… too far, they say. Although, I think my sister is interested in the property in Bagiu, a mountain resort in the Philippines. Meh. I’ve seen the place… not interested… place is too crowded with tourists. here’s a picture of our vacation house there, and we plan to rent it out too. So, my Filipino readers, check it out… Contact me next summer….. sorry, I’m talking business here, hehehe… Whatever it takes, you know, haha.. I’d holler for a dollar.. Kidding !

The townhouse is hanging for dear life at the side of the mountain, and the pictures above are the views from the verandah. The place is really nice. Oh , and that ‘s me in Bagiu, at BenCab museum. Heh, I really look like a high school girl in person… Hmmm, and gained a lot of weight too. All we ever did there was eat.

So, aside fom my 2 jobs, what else have I been doing ? Reading mangas, that’s what. Well, just two…. and , actually, they are not Japanese….they are Korean manhwas. I really love the two stories, but the English translations on Manga Fox ( free online ) are soo slow in coming, like every 3 months for just one freaking chapter, that I have to search for raws of the mahnwas ( raws are those published in original language ) and satisfy myself with just looking at the pictures. I found a Vietnamese site. It seems Vietnam is also publishing mangas and manhwas, but in Vietnamese of course. … the title of the manhwa is ” The Boy Who Will Sell a Kiss for 5000 Won”. ( 5000 won + $5.00 ) . The story is cute…and here’s the story so far,………. during lunchtime, the handsome main guy hangs out at the school rooftop and waits for any girl who wants to get kissed by him, something like a minute for 5000 won, and a little more if the girl wants to extend the kiss. Ha ha ha ! The main girl is angry coz her BFF goes there to get kissed, and spends so much money for it. So main girll goes there too to take pics and show them to the principal , but instead gets kissed, too. The main guy asks for payment , yadiya. The main girl gets dazzled by the first kiss ( note to self: I wouldn’t mind paying $500 to get kissed by Andrew Garfield… whooo ! ), and later, falls in love with the guy. She pursues him , then finally confesses, but gets rejected…. says he’s not interested at all. So , like the girls she despises, she goes to the rooftop and pays, too. She is of course depressed by the turn of events, but then , one day, she hears some guys talking about her… ” Isn’t that the girl who confessed to Soo Hyun… I heard she was so easy and willing he almost did it with her, right there at the rooftop ” Main girl gets angry, confronts the guy at the cafeteria, slaps him and hits him several times, and gets slapped back so hard she falls to the ground. Here are some scenes from the story… Oh, the drama!!! By the way, this is Korean, not Japanese, so read from left to right.

It is a scandalous situation, so girl goes home very late at night, gets soaked in the rain, runs a fever the next day… main guy learns about it fom a friend who’s the boy friend of the girl’s sister . Main guy feels guilty , skips class, and goes to visit the girl…… well, that’s it… that’s the last of the English version. So, anyways, I looked at the Vienamese raws ( completed ) and yay, happy ending ! Anmd this is how I understood the story from the raws….. the main girl finally gives up on the guy…. she gets introduced to the sister’s boyfriend’s pal, they get together…. meanwhile, this new guy happens to be the main guy’s childhood friend , or maybe a cousin, I don’t know, and one day, they see him at a club and she gets introduced to the main guy. Awkward ! Main guy starts to get jealous, yadiya, so the story continues…. one day, new guy sees main guy and girl kissing. He is shocked but pretends not to have seen them… a sad situation for the new guy coz it seems he’s so in love with the girl and I reckon he already knows the two have a history. A confrontation means a resolution, and that means, he’s going to lose out on the main guy. So, he avoids the issue.. ( just my opinion … if I were him, I would freakin’ kill them , lol ) And there’s this scene where the main guy sees the new guy waiting for him at his house, and they talk and it looks like the new guy is crying. ( Oh, that is so sad ! ) Later on in the story, main guy and girl get together. Now, here’s the thing…. there’s a scene at the rooftop where the main guy is kissing another girl and the main girl wittnesses that, and it looks like they break up…… . and there;s this scene where the main guy is showing the new girl what looks like birth control pills. And looking at that, I was like, ” Noooooooooooo ! ! ! This can’t be happening ! I am so gonna drop this manhwa ! What the F!#$% is that ! ! ” And there’s this scene where the main girl and the main guy’s roommate ( the doctor at the school’s infirmary ) get drunk together, and end up sleeping together. ( When I saw that, my jaw dropped to the ground, and I thought , it’s over! ! but then, there’s the happy ending, so , what the heck is going on ! ) I was so desperate to know , so I used Google Translate, and folks, it sux Big time. I painstakingly translated word for word, but not a thing made sense, so I just tried stringing the words together especially the key words , and this is what I figure really happened…. main guy and main girl do not see each other for 3 days , so main girl starts looking for him,,, they meet up, and main guy’s excuse is he ‘s in the toilet during lunchtime cause he’s suffering from constipation ! ( I read the word in the translation, lol ), so main girl buys the medicine, and the doctor friend tells her he always goes to the rooftop during lunchtime, and girl tells him that can’t be, he’s constipated and maybe he’s in the toilet again ( she ‘s worried coz she knows that’s where the main guy does his kissing business ) , but goes along with the doctor to look for him, anyway… then bam ! they see him with a girl kissing….. she drops the medicine, and main guy tries to run after her, but the other girl holds him back and confesses too… There’s a side story about this other girl .( apparently she’s got kissing phobia and friends of hers tell main guy to help her get over that … WTF ! ) This other girl falls for him, too, and confesses, he rejects her, and goes to the main girl’s house, and waits for her to come home ( outside ) , but main girl goes out with the doctor and both get drunk… she sleeps at doctor’s house ( both together in bed, but they didn’t do IT ) , so she goes home in the morning and finds the main guy at the gate…….main guy tries to explain but girl won’t listen… they break up, and even tells main guy she has slept with his friend as her parting words…… To make the story short, a lot of drama happens, but main guy does stuff so he can get back with main girl, ( he really loves her ) and they do get back together, and get married… the last scene is the couple picking up their kindergarten son, and the main guy is saying ” what have I done to deserve this kid “! And wife tells him ” KARMA! ( The teacher at the son’s school is complaining their son is selling kisses for 10 won. End of story/

LOL pardon me for being so chatty today. I didn’t get to sleep at all for 3 days or so. I’ve been translating, and it does take me hours to translate a few chapters. In fact, a friend saw me online at 1 AM and messaged me, ” What are you doing at this hour”? and I messaged back ,” what are young doing at this hour . It’s 4 AM over there. ” He says he likes the peace and quiet.. He’s in Canada.

I guess I should cut back on manga reading. Well, actually I have cut back , what with my 2 jobs and all. And we’ve been busy too preparing for my aunt’s arrival. By the way, I read mangas free online, but I do support the authors and publishers by buying the books. I’m not a freebie. Except, Korean manhwas are not published in English. Too bad. It;s been 8 days, so here I am again. As usual, I’ll just write down whatever comes to mind, so kindly bear with my unorganized thoughts, okay ?

First off, I’m going to see Harry Potter on July 14, midnight showing. I don’t know if it’s a premier showing . I didn’t buy the tickets. Hahaha I’ve got a date , same fellow Muggle guy I saw the last Potter movie with last year.

I don’t think I’d be that happy . I’m sure I’d feel sad, because this is it…….the last one. Good-bye to the Boy Who Lived. *sniff* Excuse me while I get a tissue…………….

Pardon me for the misty eyes, I’m just being myself, a sentimental fool, as always. You see, I consider this last movie as the end of my youth. ……….Ugh. I’m not in the mood. I think I’ll just repost something that I wrote last year before the first part of Deathly Hallows was released. I feel quite lazy right now.

Ahhh ! Inner voice. It sounds profound.But I’m not thinking anything profound at this moment. In fact , I’m not thinking at all. My mind is totally blank. Does it mean my brain is getting fuzzy? Or is my sagging attention span getting to be a bit of a problem now . Nah. I’m just bored. I did my laundry this morning, and I think I find watching my clothes tumble dry more fascinating than the rest of my activities today. So sad. Oh, well….. story of my life. ^_^”

Ooooh, Harry Pottah ! The last movie in the series is going to be released in November. Well, no, it’s second to the last, actually………. there’s a part 2. Of course, I assume everybody knows that. Anyone who doesn’t is an alien……..

I’m feeling nostalgic… Is he going to live or die ? I agonized over that for a long time. I thought it would be so cruel… no, evil… of JKRowling to off my beloved Harry after making him suffer since the day he was born. Oh, but good thing my whole family ( except my father ) were as obssessed as I was with the books. We always had very lively and colorful discussions over dinners, exchanging theories,( ad nauseum ), on whether Harry was going to live or die……I reread the books a million times, looking for clues. I listened to podcasts and went on HP sites like Mugglenet and Leaky Cauldron These discussions went on for years, until the last book was released and we finally learned Harry lived. ( collective sighs of relief ). Oh, that was such a momentous event. We bought the book on the very first date of release, at 12 midnight. We were at the bookstore as early as 10 PM, got in line, and got hold of the book at 3 AM. Yep, you heard it…. 3 freakin’ AM. Hey, what’s 5 hours of waiting in line compared to years of anticipation? I was the first to read the book, with a promise I wouldn’t spoil it for the rest of the family. In fact, I placed my right hand over a stack of Bibles and swore an oath not to tell, so help me God. Oh, yes, , this episode in my life loving Harry Potter is absolutely priceless. …………… Now, about Daniel Radcliff, Mr. Harry Potter himself, in person…………….. First time I saw the movie, I thought he was God’s gift to little girls like me. I was 11 and he was 11, and he was sooo cute. I had a humungous teenage crush on him. And he was so handsome in Goblet of Fire. ……… Okay, that’s just my opinion. ^^” ……………………… So, what was my reaction when JKRowling revealed a secret…. that Prof. Dumbledore is, in fact, gay ? I was ~~flabbergasted~~ surprised, but thinking back, a lot of things that made me think, ” hmmm”, now made a lot of sense. Oh, one more thing, did I get disappointed that Harry and Hermione didn’t end up together ? So, okay , Hermione , played by Emma Watson, is pretty. ~~But, take note~~, However, Hermione in the book, isn’t pretty . In fact, the author’s description of her isn’t flaterring at all.. And , apparently, Harry likes good-looking girls. So, he ends up with Ginny. ………… I was disappointed, of course. ~~Hermione~~ Emma Watson and ~~Harry~~ Daniel Radcliff do look good together.

I guess I was on fangirl mode when I wrote the above. Ha ha ! Well, that’s me. One question though…… do you think Harry Potter is a great piece of literature? Whether it is, or not, doesn’t matter . To me, it’s one amazing piece of literature. It got me ( and million others ) started to read books other than Nancy Drew. . Oh, yes, if it can get people , from age 9 to 90, to read a book with 1000 pages, and finish it, then , in my book, it is a great piece of literature , and literary snobs be damned.

The bottomline here is, each to his /her own. No one can force me to read Atlas Shrugged, for example, unless it’s shoved down my throat. I’d rather gladly eat it, than read it. Now, I’m just wondering, when the book is extremely popular, why do critics trash it ? So, okay, there’s one completely rational answer to that….. Tom Clancy. Although I have literary ( pardon the irony) read almost all of his books, and enjoyed them, I have to admit the plots of his latest books are so “out there ” I find Prof. Dumbledore conjuring a goblet of water from the air more believable. I swear Tom Clancy’s recent story lines are computer – generated. Fill in the blanks and he’s good to go. I don’t blame him though. The dollars just keep coming. I just hope Mr. Clancy goes back to his roots and writes another novel as compelling as The Hunt for Red October. That is one awesome book. * ponders* You know, there’s one book of Tom Clancy’s that reminds me of 9/11 . The book is Debt of Honor. The difference between what happened on 9/11 and the book’s plot is that the antagonists are not Muslim terrorists but a Japanese pilot flying a commercial 747, if I recall correctly. What is more surprising about this novel is that it was written years before 9/11 happened. In the story, the building that gets hit is not an ordinary structure like the Twin Towers in New York, but the Capitol Building in Wahington, D.C., and it happens while the President of the of the United States is delivering his annual State of the Nation Address, with all the officials of the land present . They all die. …… and Jack Ryan becomes the President of the United States. Well, this book is part of Mr. Clancy’s Jack Ryan series. In movie versions , Jack Ryan is Alec Baldwin in Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in Patriot Games , Executive Orders, Clear and Present Danger, and John Affleck in Sum of All Fears.

So okay, you can tell I actually like Tom Clancy…… and Robert Ludlum. In fact, I like Robert Ludlum more than Tom Clancy even though their novels belong to the same thriller genre. If Tom Clancy has his Jack Ryan, Robert Ludlum has Jason Bourne. By the way, Matt Damon is Jason Bourne in the movies.

I’m starting to blabber. Oh, well, what’s new. I’m always like this, anyways. …. Guess I have to say bye for now. Be cool and stay cool. PEACE .

Hello ! It’s me again, Renxkyoko Iglesias !

I woke up at 2 AM.

I actually fell asleep while chatting with a friend at around 11 PM. I always do that, so, sorry, my friend, you should be used to it by now.

So, what can I do at this hour? Do the laundry, and blog , that’s what. Well, it’s about time, anyway. It’s been 7 days since my last post. Oh, and you know what, these are just my thoughts that I’m writing down, so I don’t think this post will make any sense to you. Nothing new though. I’ve been posting non-sensical stuff, anyways. (^_^)# You won’t find me here contemplating the meaning of my existence in the whole wide universe, or explaining The Theory of Thermodynamics. It’s just me, goofing around and being idiotic. Ahahah ! Yeah. Ah, but you are still going to read this, right , no matter what?

I know you are. C ”mon. You really want to know what stupid stuff I’m gonna come up with this time, yeah ?

Anywho…………..

My friends and I ( Olga, Tanya and Ali… yep, the usual suspects) pigged out at an Eat – all – you-can sushi restaurant yesterday. ‘ I had sworn off eat all you can dinners, but this is sushi I’m talking about here. At the restaurant, there were more than 50 kinds of sushi to choose from, with odd names such as, California roll, train wreck, Marilyn Monroll, etc. Funny thing about eat all you cans is that , it doesnn’t matter whether there are just 5 kinds or 1000 kinds of sushi. They all taste the same to me, ( My taste buds aren’t that particular and sensitive anyways. ) What is important is I get to eat a lot…….and at least, get my money’s worth. That’s important. This time, it was $ 20 per. Seriously though, it wasn’t worth it. I gagged after my 10th sushi. I felt so full and fat that, as soon as I got home, I hit the treadmill, and did a few calisthenics. And now I’m back to munching dried seaweeds again.

Oh, but it’s torture to exercise in summer. ( Yesterday, temperature was 102 F tops. That’s about 38 C , you Celsius users. ) Well, I need to look good by Monday. The manager of BCBG says I should look like a fashionista myself coz the clothes I’ll be selling are kinda high end. Sorta. There’s a simple dress there that’s 50% off, but the price is still high, $ 199. Hah ! I guess wearing my WalMart outfit is now out of the question. j/k I’m not snobbing WalMart, mind you. I buy most of my make-up stuff and toiletries there…. and other stuff, like socks, etc. Uhm, I even used to buy my underthings there too, ( so not sexy ) but hey, I’ve leveled up. I now buy at Victoria’s Secret. Ahahaha ! We have to admit WalMart goods are really cheap. But the clothes are horrible ! The last time I wore something from WalMart was when I was in elementary. Then in high school , I was like, ” Mom, stop eeeet ! ! I’m not gonna wear that. I refuse ! ! ”

Enough of WalMart…………

I watched the movie Battle Los Angeles. It’s an alien invasion thingy….and I liked it. But then there’s no science fiction movie that I don’t like, anyway. It reminds me of Independence Day….. but Battle is a bit more stupid. There are only 7 soldiers desperately fighting them off. Where’s the rest of the army ? I’d understand if the aliens are like the Independence Day type where one shot from the invaders causes widespread devastation. In Battle, the aliens are quite vulnerable…. I’m sure even the gansters of LA can defeat them quite handily. * sighs * I still like it, though. >.< Well, that’s me. Beam me up.

So, what else have I been doing this past week? Reading Japanese manga, that’s what, and gardening, believe it or not. Last summer, I discovered the joy of gardening. That’s quite weird, isn’t it ? . I mean, gardening and reading manga aka comics as hobbies…. kind of oxymoron. Speaking of which, manga sites just released new chapters of L-DK, one of my favorite stories. Aaaargh. This one is sooo frustrating. So far, it is still cute , but , the tension between the 2 protragonists is starting to tire me. The main guy is so oblivious and dense, while the main girl is a wimp. They’re living together, for crying out loud, and readers know they like each other, so what the heck is going on. Kiss already ! Gosh. But then, that’s exactly what the story is all about…. that is, it’s how long they can hold back . Up to this point, anyhow. It’s ongoing even in Japan, so we don’t really know what’s gonna happen. Right now, they’ve released 15 chapters in English, but in Japan, there are already 25 chapters, and I ;ve read the English summaries. !#$%^&* Dang! The main guy is a douchebag ! The main girl finally confesses, but the main guy rejects her, and says , ” I’m not interested in you at all ! ” What the !!! Oh, but this kind of storyline is what makes readers like me riveted and all – agog, so eager to know what happens next. I’m not gonna drop this , coz I’m sure there’s going to be a happy ending. Meanwhile, here I am, ripping my heart off my chest. …………. Oh, man, she should just give up on the guy …………. ” hey, girl, there are so many fish in the ocean…. go sail and fish some more…..

Here’s the cover of the manga . The main guy is hot. * drools* ………. Hmmm, why am I suddenly feeling a sense of deja vu? Never mind. It just feels “familiar”.

Renxkyoko Iglesias musing……

It’s been a while, huh. I’ve been either hanging out with friends who are on vacation too, or I’m at work these past few days. As usual, nothing earthshaking is happening with my life. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. As they say, no news is good news. Although, last Monday, my friends and I went clubbing, like old times. Well, it’s a place where no alcohol is served, so it’s safe. It would be troublesome to meet people who have had too much to drink, no? Deciding to go out on a Monday night was quite random actually.I mean, who’d go out on a Monday night? Our usual night out is Friday, but it’s a “theme” night, and we weren’t in the mood to cosplay. ^_^# Actually, it isn’t really a costume party. Like last time, it was just shorts and shirt. Here’s a pic from last time I was there. See that? Just shirt and shorts…

I guess pictures can make up for lack of topic to talk about. ^_^;; See, a picture is worth a thousand words, don’t you agree? Oh, by the way, the guys in the pic are waiters, not our dates. As you can see, they are wearing identical royal blue coats. Hahah. Sometimes, it’s good to be friendly with the waiters. We get extra orange wedges in our juice. \(^_^)/

Oh, right!!! I just watched this anime ” SUMMER WARS “… I found it so good I watched it twice in a row. After the ending credits, I clicked “Play” again. I guess that was the geek in me. I did officially declare myself a total geek a long time ago, didn’t I? lol !! So, okay, about Summer wars…… it won many awards, including Japan’s Best animation in 2009, and a nomination in this year’s Oscars for Best Animation, but, as expected, it lost to Toys Story 3. Meh. There was no way Pixel/Walt Disney was going to lose to Funimation. Well, I think Summer Wars is 10x better, IMO. Just Wiki it to get the synopsis. It is kinda sci fi, … it’s about the attack on the virtual world of OZ that dominates every aspect of Japanese life… no, in fact, of the world…. but that’s only a small part of the story. What I find more fascinating is the slice of a family’s life… the ordinary day to day interactions among family members, the humor, the love they share with each other, and that bit of sweet romance between the two main characters, Keiji, a shy, Math genius eleventh grader and a feisty, straight-forward 12th grader , Natsuki. It’s definitely a feel good movie. It made me all fluffy and happy., like this……..

Ah, but it was so unlike what I watched before Summer Wars…. Black Swan. ! It was supposedly a great movie……. Natalie Portman won Best Actress portraying a totally whacked ballerina. But, what the !#$%^&* was that movie all about? It made me go like this ——->

That was the most depressing thing ever. Dang it ! I wanted to kick myself for watching that. I mean, seriously, this kind of movie is the reason why I stay away from this deep drama gobbledeegook. I’ve seen and heard enough depressing real time drama going on on this planet to last me a lifetime. I just want to be one happy camper, thank you very much.

By the way, what’s your wallpaper ? Mine is this…… it’s from the video game Persona 3 FES, one of my all- time favorite. I liked it so much that I played it for 600 hours. =_=# More , I think. Crazy, huh.

It’s been my wallpaper from Day one, but if I can find a picture of Keanu Reeves when he was 18 years old, I’ll replace this. He’s one hot dude. Problem is, Keanu’s gay? Noooo!!!! It’s okay. * fans self* At least, he ‘s not attracted to women. I’m one happy camper again. LOL

Hello ! renxkyoko Iglesias musing again………..

So, yeah, it’s Monday, May 23, 2011. And yep, I’m still here. I didn’t get taken. hah! Why would anyone believe the Rupture would happen last Saturday. Apparently, many did. I read there was this retiree who spent all his retirement funds to buy huge billboards announcing the coming of Rupture. Frankly, though, for a moment last Saturday, it got me a little bit anxious, wahahaha !! I mean, I wore my nice * cough * underthings * cough, just in case. I understand if ever a person got taken, whatever one was wearing would be left behind. (~.~) Oooh, that reminds me….. I saw a movie titled ” Left Behind ” and yes, it was about The Rupture. Planes crashed because the pilots disappeared, and there were so many clothes on the streets, and vehicles sans drivers cluttered the roads. Anyways, I was thinking, what if it happened and I didn’t get taken? Does it mean I’m a bad girl? And if , for some reason, I was taken, that would s*ck, too coz I didn’t get to do the fun things I have not done before, * sweat*……. . ^o^ ! Enough of this cr*p………….. moving on…….

About these subscriptions…. I’m surprised I get at least 2 subscriptions a week since I started blogging here. Well, okay, not that much, about 67 active subscribers , to date. But, considering I post just my silly random thoughts, my mundane happenings and whatnot, it’s amazing readers still subscribe to my blog. A big, big Thank You. * hearts and hugs * ………. But, here’s the thing…… I notice subscribers don’t bother to come to my blogsite anymore. * tears * ,…. they just read my post on their email folders , and, directly email their replies to me. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the subscriptions, I really do, but I wish you could still find the time to come and visit me here. And respond here, of course. LOL ! kidding !!!. I’m just having fun posting these manga comic strips. Speaking of which…. I think I’ve posted here where my sig Renxkyoko came from. In case you have not read that post, Ren and Kyoko are the main characters of a very popular romance Japanese manga Skip Beat….. This is a series that I’ve been reading for more than 3 years. Now about Iglesias……. do you know of the singer Enrique Iglesias ? Enrique Iglesias is half-Filipino- half Spaniard. Erm, * clears throat *, he’s a cousin by affinity…. I mean, we have common relatives on his Filipino side. Well, in fact, his Filipino side is not even pure Filipino or pure Asian…. his mother is half Spaniard too. One blogger asked me,( Quierosaber ), if I was pure Filipino . Normally, I’d say yes, pure Filipino, pure Asian, but I guess I’m not. My great grandfather came from Spain, Sta.Maria de la Nueva, Segovia, Spain, to be exact. So, anyways, Enrique Iglesias and I have common relatives, with the same great grandfather. I guess that answers Quierosaber’s question. Oh, and here’s a pic of Enrique Iglesias….

Renxkyoko Iglesias here, Hi there !!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been awhile since I posted . I’ve been busy with exams, pulling an all nighter everyday last week, memorizing tons of stuff. The tests were hard , but I think I did well. < crosses fingers>

I really have nothing particular to talk about. I’ll just go with the flow , so kindly indulge me. ‘ k ? (^o^) Something will come out, I’m sure, so let’s see where this goes.

I’ve said before that I read Japanese mangas ( comics), *laughs*, but since November of last year when my computer crashed, I haven’t read anything, at all . Well, that’s because I couldn’t log in. It was rather strange ‘coz everytime I’d type ” anime ” or ” manga”, I’d get this ——–> “ Internet Explorer cannot open the webpage. ” I suspected SBC Global was blocking it, or maybe , my Norton Anti Virus. After all, my favorite manga site , Manga Fox, is notorious for harboring all sorts of viruses. I don’t know if this site is doing something illegal. Readers can read translated mangas for free. The authors and publishers are definitely not compensated, but, hitherto unknown authors and manga novels are suddenly very popular around the world, thanks to these free mangas online, and for this, they should be thankful. And , it’s not as if we don’t buy the books. We do, especially the ones that we really, really like.

Anyways, last Friday, after my exams ( I only had one class, and was already home by 1 PM ), I tried logging in on Manga Fox, and , lo and behold, it came on ! Wow! My ‘puter doesn’t hate me anymore! * happy dance * So, yeah, like a mad dog, with mouth drooling , eyes wild with anticipation and great excitement and switching to fangirl mode, I read up all the series that I had missed reading for 4 months. First in line was Skip Beat, my all time fav.

Yeah, so I was like that. Slap me. (^o^)

About Skip Beat…… it’s a romance/ shojou. And it’s so cute and sweet, hilarious, and almost fairy-tale – like. I have to admit I’m obssessed and addicted. There are now 172 chapters, three chapters every 2 months , so do the math. That means it’s been ongoing for almost 9 years. I started reading it 3 years ago. Real time it’s 9 years, but the story spans just one year, from the time Ren meets Kyoko. Amazing, isn’t it? And it doesn’t get old. I ‘m the one who’s getting old.!!!! I swear, at the rate it’s going, I’ll be sitting in a rocking chair, drinking hot cocoa, clacking my dentures, and still reading ( and swooning over ) Skip Beat. ( o.O)a <* Ren, for Pete’s sakes, confess already. Kyoko loves you! * >

So, why are hundreds of thousands of girls addicted to mangas, you ask?

Yep. These pics are the reasons why. \(^o^)/ Believe me, I know. (=_=)” * sweats* I mean, who, among real time male homo sapiens, can compete with these guys? *ponders* So, okay, maybe Pepito can.

These Japanese mangakas draw hot guys to keep the girls totally in their radar. And they get sucked in, daydreaming that one fine , glorious day, a handsome knight in shining armor will sweep them off their feet and together, they will ride into the sunset… to live happily ever after.

I swear, my IQ just went down a notch….. make that 3 notches.

Oh. ( watching CNN )……. The US is contemplating on going to Libya . Uhm, Mr. President? Don’t even think about it !
