The Geek In Me Arises Again

00000003

As the title says, the geek in me rises again.  I just bought a video game titled  God Of War 4, one of my all – time favorite video games.  This is why I’ve been AWOL  on WordPress  these past few days.   When I play, nothing can interrupt me, except work, of course..  In fact,  I’d rather play my  favorite game than date a hot guy.  ^__^    ” Ren, you bailed on him ???  You kidding ? ”   Me:  “He can wait…. Kratos  can’t. ”

The game is heart attack difficult.  My character had to die more than a dozen times before I could figure out the way to defeat an enemy boss.

I know some of you are thinking…. ” what’s so good about video games , and why do  people indulge in such unproductive , make – believe stuff ? ”   Those who love to play are the only ones  who can understand. But do you know  seniors  at retirement homes are actually encouraged to play video games ? Video games are almost all about strategy , quick  responses and reflexes, so when they play, they get to exercise their mental  and physical  faculties.  Do video games  make people dumb? I don’t think so.  It’s only when people do everything  excessively that  makes it a bad thing. Anything done in excess is bad.  Any food consumed  in excess is toxic, even water.  That’s the first thing a student  learns in Toxicology.  Don’t believe  everything that you read  especially those written by celebrities and science ” journalists”.

There are so many bloggers here on WordPress who are so good in writing  down their motivational, spiritual, and  inspirational thoughts ….. and then they   let out they are  rabid  admirers and supporters of  that person  temporarily living at  the White House.   I don’t care who they support and admire…. it is their right. They can  be admirers of Hitler  and Mussolini for all I care, or  secret members of the Klu Klux Klan.  Each to his /her own.   But Jesus, Mary and Joseph,  don’t  talk and preach about honesty, integrity, truthfulness, kindness , fidelity, and all these saintly virtues ,as if they all come from their hearts  and the heavens, when , in fact, they all come out of their asses.

You :  Wait… what !  Where did that come from, Ren ?  Isn’t this post about God of War ?   Me : Well, my thoughts do tend to meander… from video games to politics, so don’t judge.

Alright, back to video games…..

At first , my gameplay is awkward and clumsy, ( sorry, Kratos )  but  I’m getting so much better as the game progresses…. not badass yet, but I’m getting there.  ( I always GoW on Hard Mode.  I love to savor each and every hard -earned victory. )

Well, that’s it.  I’m going to  post my review of the game on my anime/manga /video games blogsite  @ https://2megaworthitwordpresscomblog.wordpress.com/

I hope to finish this very soon.  In the meantime,  my blog reading will take a back seat while video game playing  takes the front seat.  I’m on Cloud 9.

Bye and peace to all ! !

Saturday Ramblings

I’ve been busy gardening.  I take care of the frontyard. My mother takes care of the backyard.  I’ve already spent so much for pots and plants. I’m obsessing on bromeliads.

I also bought petunias to replace the dead ones.   Garden business   here in the US is a billion dollar industy.   Every year , we buy so many flowering plants for so-called instant garden.  Then they all die in winter.  6_6

I need to buy some more petunias for the hanging pots.

And I mowed the lawn this morning.  Do you know what we use to clean the pathways ? Nope, not a rake.  We use ” walis  tinting” , which we buy at the Filipino supermarket.  It’s very efficient and easy to use, for some reason.  The only drawback is that I have to bend a little while sweeping and it doesn’t take long before my back starts aching.

Walis means broom. I don’t know what tinting means.  It’s made of dried  “veins” of  coconut leaves.

I also bought a new iPhone, and ta dah  ! an Apple watch ! !  I didn’t have a mobile for almost a week.

This is all for now. Thanks for reading and peace ! !

Please check out my anime/manga /video games blogsite  @ https://2megaworthitwordpresscomblog.wordpress.com/              I have a new entry…. Violet Evergarden ,  a Netflix original anime. I gave this a 10/10  rating. Even if you’re not an anime fan,  this  is  one that is definitely worth watching.  It won’t be a waste of your  precious time, I assure you.

Meandering Thoughts on Wordless Wednesday

00000003

Sorry I haven’t been reading your blogs.  I’m busy doing some spring – cleaning chores, and you know, I can only do these tasks in the morning, which is my blog reading time.   There’s really not much to talk about anyway. All is quiet on the western front.  After the events of the past weeks, I guess that’s a good thing, right ?

So, with nothing on my mind at the moment, what do I do?  Post random pictures, of course. Photos below were taken in the Philippines.

Fort Santiago….. oh,look ! There’s a moat! Cool!

It’s a pity there’s very little left of the old, Spanish colonial city of Manila.  The city used to be the  most beautiful in Asia , (  called the Paris of Asia ) , with wide , cobbled stone avenues and streets,   European style fountains everywhere,  beautiful bridges

It was for that reason that Gen. Douglas McArthur declared Manila an Open City, allowing Japanese invaders to come in without bombing the city while the US Army retreated to somewhere outside of Manila.  Ironically, it was American planes that flattened the city in 1945. Street to street fighting and tanks and artillery  blew up the rest that were still standing. Manila was the second most destroyed city during WW2 , next to Warsaw which was # 1.  ( of course, Hiroshima and Nagasaki  are excluded…. that’s a different level )

Whoa !  Japanese soldiers were already walking around peacefully in this pic.

Destroyed  16th century  old Fort Santiago. That was an American tank right there. Well, that’s war.  Not blaming anyone. The fact is, real World War 2  action in Asia happened in Manila, Philippines, and nowhere else. The Japanese bombed the country 8 hours after Pearl Harbor. Well, the Philippines was an American territory then,  so, invading it was like invading the US.

* pondering*

Where was I ? Didn’t I just say my mind was blank and I had nothing to talk about ?

I better stop here before my thoughts meander from Manila to ancient Mesopotamia. 6_6

Thank you for reading and putting up with my ramblings.  Bye and peace !
