I wish I could turn back the clock

Renxkyoko Iglesias here, hello, hi, how are you ?

For the first time, WordPress has reminded me that I’ve been blogging for 7 years. WP has never done this before.

7 Year Anniversary Achievement
Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com!
You registered on WordPress.com 7 years ago.
Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging.

I feel old…… and very, very nostalgic.  All my friends from the old forum ( then we all moved to WP ) are gone now. Phio-chan, Alexis, Kioko  ? Where are you guys ? Phio-chan is from Indonesia, a medical student, Alexis is from Oregon, and teaches English in China, and believe it or not, she’s my co-author here on my blogsite,, and Kioko’s from Michigan. I wonder if she’s still with her boyfriend. I miss all the fun we had, fangirling over mangas and animes.  I think it was my fault that they stopped communicating with me. Guys, I still read mangas and watch animes. Come backkkkkkk !

Anyway, thank you for the happy memories , my friends.

And about the Las Vegas massacre……. I have no more tears to shed.  The last time I cried, it was  for the massacre of  20 students at  Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, and Trayvon Martin. I have already become inured to what’s happening here in the US…. mass shootings, massacres, police violence , racism, political shenanigans…. what else ? It’s a burlesque world we are living in now.

I’ll just sleep it off.

This is all . Peace to all and live green, folks.

  2. Hello Ren! I got a notification that mine has been around for seven years too. It doesn’t feel like I’ve had it for that long. :O Oh my boyfriend isn’t my boyfriend anymore since we got married! Yay! 😀 It’s been awhile since I commented on here, but I still read your posts.I’ll try to comment on here more often. :3

      • Yeppers! It’s really me! I don’t do much posting/commenting anymore, but I visit here quite a bit. 😀

I would have responded back way sooner, but WP didn’t notify me that you responded and then it slipped my mind that I had left a comment until today when I was catching up on your posts! LOL!

  3. Congratulations on your first seven years. I know how you feel regarding the state of the nation.

  4. Wow, seven years that is truly an amazing achievement indeed, and something you should be really proud of: congratulations! As for the state of this world, I was saying it to a friend of mine this morning. There are times when I really don’t want to live in this world anymore because of all the sad and terrible things that keep happening. On the other hand though, if we live in fear and sadness because of a bunch of crazy people that seem determined to ruin everything, we let them win and that’s just not worth it.
I hope your blog will continue for many more years to come!

    • I hope I can continue on, Raistlin. Do you know that it’s only this year, 2017 , that I get to post more often , at most 3 x a month. Before this , it was like, one post a month, sometimes , 1 in 2 months. I am amazed ( and very appreciative ) that my long time readers still read me, and I feel the same enthusiasm when they see my name on their email folder.

    • Oct. 1 is my anniversary…….. but actually , my move was much earlier than that. My buddies used to post on Live.com, then I guess it was bought by WordPress….. so , whether we liked it or not, all our live.com blogposts were transferred, lock, stock and barrel to WP, unofficially in March , 2010, and officially in October 1, 2010.

  8. Yeah, once Americans decided it was okay to slaughter children, the rest comes as no surprise.

    • This is what happens when leaders /politicians are beholdened to weapons manufacturers and to a powerful organization ( NRA ) that advocates gun proliferation. Gun culture is already in people’s DNA.

  12. Don’t lose sight of the fact that for the vast majority of people, things are much better than they were in any century you care to pick.

Also, recognize that you are now a lot “closer” to tragedies than anyone ever was. That’s both due to the fast response when it comes to getting news out there, and due to the fact that for events such as these, you are being inundated by images (often the same images played on a loop) 24/7.

Contrast that with the Christmas day tsunami that killed over a quarter of a million people. Or, for that matter, the fact that roughly 90 people each and every day die in automobile accidents doesn’t make the news. We don’t read their names on the news, we don’t send flowers, the President doesn’t visit.

These are all tragedies, but we don’t live them. We don’t have them shoved into our eyeballs wherever we look.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t “feel”; we absolutely should. I’m saying that if all you look at is a toilet bowl all day, you might not appreciate what’s around it. You might not even appreciate the marvel that is the toilet bowl.

Yes, that is an attempt at humor, but it’s also a metaphor to think about.

    • I get it, disperser.

Anyways, although I always say I feel I’ve been already desensitized by all these tragic events, the day before I posted this, I donated blood. The line was long, it took me 4 hours to get it done…. about 10 minutes for one pint of blood. I got a free T-shirt , though. My cousin was rejected…. she’s iron deficient. ( she pulled an all nighter, 3 nights in a row for her exams ….. became anemic because of that … she didn’t get a T-shirt )

  15. Happy Blogaversery. I just completed 5 years. Guess that makes you my older sister in the blogging world! I feel old too. I left all of my old friends when I moved to California at 19… and then to India at 35… That was 8 years ago. Damn, where did all the time go. Can barely remember the faces of the first set of friends anymore, except for the three that keep honored positions in my heart…

    • I’m your Ate ( older sister in Filipino language ) in the blogging world, ha ha. Im still close friends with my high school classmates, two of whom have gotten married, and I was their bridesmaid, and one is getting married in June, and I’ll be her maid of honor. I’ve been friends with them since elementary. * sigh * I’m afraid I’m the proverbial ” always the bridesmaid, never the bride. ” He he

Yup, Vegas was an insane tragedy, I just can’t seem to process it anymore…

    • You’re right. I don’t think anyone can process these tragic events anymore. This is the second one this year where at least 50 people died .

    • There are a lot of us with 7 year anniversary. I think 2010 was the year Live.com bloggers moved to WordPress. Just guessing.

Oh, hey, I’m not going to this kind of events anytime soon. A member of my cousin’s Drum and Bugle Corps was one of the dead victims. He was 19 years old.

Happy 7 years! Wow, that’s really been long. It makes me wonder now if in 7 years I would still be here, but I’m hoping. 🙂 Anyway, I’m glad to have become one of your followers before hitting 7. I hope you won’t stop blogging and you get to inspire more people. 😊🎂
As for what’s happening in US, I hope that would the last. Please take extra care. My prayers to all the people there. 😦

Sleep is always a good idea. Congrats on blogging for seven years. That shows commitment.

It’s sad to hear that your online buddies have gone AWOL. Just like real life, internet friends come and go due to life commitments. I have lost count of the blogs I follow that suddenly go silent. Hopefully all their authors are okay.

  25. Happy anniversary! All this violence and abuse is indeed getting old: you’d think that after 300 or so years we would’ve made some progress in the world’s wealthiest nation. I suppose we have, but at the moment we seem to be sliding backwards. It truly feels like we are a nation in decline.
