Thanksgiving Day 2016/Mystery Blogger Award

Hello , Renxkyoko Iglesias here .

I’ve been nominated twice  for  Mystery Blogger Award by  livepulchritudinously  and  Nayan Nair . However, I couldn’t  find Nayan Nair’s link to that award,  so Nayan Nair, please send me that link again.

Anyway, here are my answers to livepul…….  questions.

a) What was the last movie you saw ?  I’ve been watching tons of movies on Netflix and Hulu.  I am watching  Body of Proof, a crime series,  right at  this moment.

b)  What is your favorite thing about winter ?   I get to wear  my cool boots  and winter jackets…. and most importantly,  Christmas.

c)  Do you have any pets ?  We have 2 dogs , one of which is my own, a pitbull. No one wanted to adopt a puppy pitbull at the animal shelter, so I did.  Her name’s Taylor, and I really love her.

d)  What was the last book you read ?   Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

e)  Are you allergic to anything  ?   Oh, sweet mother of pink, it’s weird that I get asked about allergies.  I just had an allergy attack at work last Friday, right after Thanksgiving Day. I got worried they might fire me .  Good thing I tested negative on milk (  O_O ! ) , more specifically  on almond and soy milk. I work at a dairy company, for Pete’s sakes. Well,   it is still a mystery what triggers  it.  Last time,  I suspected it was the red food color of chorizo.

This is it. Again, thank you for the award, @pulchritudineously.

Now, as per Ren’s tradition……  I post pictures of our Thanksgiving feast  every   year.  This year, however, there is really nothing much to show.  The family did not really feel like celebrating, because of * cough *  election issues  * cough * . But, I did not renege on my promise to do some cooking.  I made all the desserts…. heck, I even baked  the chocolate cake, angel food cake, and fruit cake from scratch. No store – bought cakes this year. And of course, I cooked my specialty, paella.

Six main dishes……. paella,  beef mechado,  lechon kawali (  boiled , then fried pork ribs  with liver sauce ) , lumpia (  wrapped  meat ), ham ( instead of turkey ), and honey roast chicken.  Desserts are  biko ( rice cake ) , fruit salad , chicken-macaroni salad, leche flan  (  egg custard made of egg yolks )  angel food cake (  I used the egg whites …. leche flan and angel food cake always go together ), fruit cake  (  from my gandmother’s recipe ), chocolate cake.

Oh, wait, my father bought pumpkin pie. Okay, one store-bought food.  I don’t like pumpkin pie, by the way.

This is all for now. Thank you for reading.

  6. Yes, wow what a spread!
Loved reading your answers to the questions. 🙂

  7. Allergies – sweet mother of pink! ROFL!!! But I have quite a few allergies myself and your Thanksgiving spread makes me so so hungry 🙂

  8. Yes, I would eat everything except for the pumpkin pie : )

  9. Congrats 🙂

    The Mystery Blogger Award :

  10. wow, so many yummy things! I’m hungry after seeing this post 🙂

  11. Looks like a good holiday. Hopefully the whole season brings you joy.

  12. Hey Ren, table so beautifully spread….I wish I could have had been a part of this feast… seem to be a good cook….. I wish I had somebody like you😋 so that my whole life would have been as good as Thanksgiving…… 😜😜😜just kidding

    • Awwww, that’s nice. I’m not really a good cook, I think, but I manage to cook a few presentable dishes.

      • The way you did that, it feels you are a good cook and a good homely person….. I wish I had somebody beautiful like you in my life…..but then, lucky is that man who will have you as a partner……

  13. What happens when you get an allergic attack. I have some weird allergies to certain raw foods because my body mistakes it for pollen and starts freaking out. Are you planning to write your thoughts on Trump reaching out to the Philippine President? I thought about you when I read that. As you have had plenty to say.

    • ” sigh ” About the new presidents ( Duterte and Trump )….. maybe if something fits my narrative, yes, I will talk about them. Just thinking about them stresses me out, though. lol. That’s why I don’t watch the news anymore…… out of sight, out of mind.

  14. Leche flan is my fave! The other day one of my friends let me try her lunch. She said it was meat loaf. But it had ground pork, carrots, some spices wrapped around an egg. It was good.
    Congratulations on your blogging award!
I watched a movie yesterday called Money Monster it starred Julia Roberts, George Cooney. I like conspiracy movie, or ones that get you thinking about the what ifs!
Body of Proof is that the one with Dana Delaney? I loved that series! It is so good!

    • Rebecca, I think that was embutido that your friend had for lunch. It’s like porkloaf, and it’s so easy to make, like how typical meatloaf is so easy to make, right ?

I have no idea who the main character is in Body of Proof. To be honest, she annoys me, and I feel like dropping the series because of this annoyance. So yeah, that’s how annoying she is to me, he he he.

Oh, wait, Rebecca, do you remember about The Road, that Filupino movie that I wanted you to watch ? It’s now on YouTube, good quality, and subtitled ! And the other movie right after that is Mana that I hope you can watch too, coz it’s very cultural. Mana means Inheritance.

Leche Flan is one of the most delicious true desserts, in my opinion.

      • Me and cooking would be like a science experiment gone wrong 😂
        But I love meatloaf!
Oh I like body of Proof I just didn’t like her assistants.
I will have to find those two movies on YouTube. Hopefully my Wifi won’t give me anymore trouble. I have been a hard time with it!

It all looks delicious. We had a quiet Thanksgiving here too.. we have a lot to be grateful for, and we know that, of course, but the election results are still sinking in. I fear they never really will…

  16. Nice Sharing Ma’am.

  17. Congrats!!! Can’t wait to check out the rest of your blog!

  18. Oh wow, look at all of those delicious dishes! You are quite the cook 🙂 Sad to hear about your allergy and glad it’s not to milk as I don’t want your job to be in jeopardy!

  19. What a maganda spread, I am possibly on my way to The Philippines for a bit next year and how I can’t wait looking at your Thanksgiving dinner. I like the fusion of US and Filipino tradition.
