An Announcement fr Ren and Windows 10, What the heck ! !

Hello ! Renxkyoko Iglesias here.

No excuses.  I blog only when I feel like it.

So, I have finally  decided to have another blogsite that is devoted to animes, mangas, and video games, and maybe some movie reviews.  I’m sure you’re right now thinking, ” what the heck, Ren,  why make a new  one when you can’t even update your old one .”   The reason is demographics, my dear readers.  Out of  * looks at my current number of followers * about 1300 followers, only a handful share my love for animes, mangas, and video games. Who would be interested to know  that  a ) I played  Persona 3 FES  for an embarrassing 1,000 hours, ( not that I was the lamest player ever… I just made my character  and my allies , all 9 of them at 100 % strength ), and bawled my eyes out at the end of the game  b )  Kou  of Ao Haru Ride is a first class jerk and does not deserve Futaba’s love  c ) much as I love the anime  Inuyasha, I dislike the main character Inuyasha who is a wavering , two-timing scoundrel  and should have been dumped by Kagome  d)  Kimi ni Todoke’s live action adaptation of this popular manga is one of the  worst , ever …….  the acting of the actress who plays  Sawako, the main female character is unbelievably bad…… what was the director thinking ? e ) the anime adaptation of  the manga The Wallflower …. what can I say ? Did I just mention Kimi ni Todoke  live action was ONE of the worst ?  Well, the anime The Wallflower is THE worst.

So, that’s it. This is the kind of stuff   you’ll read on my new blogsite, if you’re interested.

Anyway….

I ‘m wondering……. may I know if anyone of you has a problem with Windows Update. Mine is currently Windows 8.1,  but my freaking computer is being forced to automatically update to Windows 10, and every time  it does, it fails , and it messes up my computer, BIG TIME ! !  I cannot log in, and , it seems the only solution is to REFRESH PC,  but then, it deletes some important files, like NORTON , my Internet security .  Then I contact  Norton  to put it back, Norton uninstalls McAfee, reinstalls Norton (  I pay $ 75 /year ),  Windows again updates (  the only options I have to log off are  1. Sleep  2. Update , then Shut Down 3. Update then Restart   ) , then, when I turn on the computer, I see ” Windows Update fails”, and , guess what, REFRESH  PC again,  Norton disappears, McAfee reappears, I contact Norton again. It feels like it’s a cat and mouse game. Do you know how many time I contacted Norton ? 4x , just this week. WTFudge, Windows ?  You, too, McAfee  ! !BOOOO ! !

I can’t stand this anymore. Somebody, please help .

* whispers *   I hope VP Joe Biden doesn’t do the  Ralph Nader thing, because that’s exactly what he ‘ ll become , if he decides to enter the Democratic Party’s Primary. Bernie Sanders’  progressive  left supporters are solidly behind him,  whereas Joe Biden will get a significant chunk off Hillary Clinton’s block of voters. Don’t think that I’m blindly following Hillary because she ‘s a woman, and I want a woman president , at least once in my lifetime. I ‘ve paid close attention to both sides, and at first, I thought it wouldn’t matter to me who got the nomination, I’d vote for a Democrat, anyway, but then, it hit me….  I do have some issues with Bernie Sanders’ policies. First, he’s long on   bombastic  declarations, but short on how he’s going to realistically implement them.  Don’t ask me what my issues are. I’m not going to tell , not yet, anyway.

Okay, this is all for now.

Oh, by the way,  believe it or not, I’m not done with my European tour yet…. and my Philippine vacation. What’s preventing me from writing about my travels   is that I’m having a hard time posting pictures. Travel posts without pictures ? Not gonna happen.

Bye for now.  And hey, thanks for reading.

And, I’ve stood in the same place you have in your picture. Only I wasn’t wearing the same boots. 🙂

      • Yeah Renxkyoko, “He he I haven’t made one yet” – I’m not surprised, not at all – I love you… 😀 😀 😀

      • Same feels here 😭 I always think, I might need this and this and this! So my bag always looks like it’s gonna burst! Huhu. Maybe in your travel post, you can write about the dilemma of heavy packers? Haha.

        • We were allowed one luggage , weighing 50 lbs ( about 23 kilos ),….. our wardrobe for the entire trip of 3o days should fit in that luggage. My mother was shocked when she saw several pairs of shoes in my luggage. She only had that one pair for the entire trip. We saw to it though that we packed very, very lightweight clothes. Since Mom ‘s had lighter luggage, I dumped my extras in hers, lol. I did learn a lesson. Next time, if there’s a next time, I’ll do better.

Go for Mac. No doubt. My PC fried a few years ago. And though I had been a faithful PC user since 1982, I made the jump. I’m all Apple now, Mac, I-Phone, I-pad. Add a gmail account and you will not believe it. Bought another lighter Mac last week-end, it was up and running in less than two hours, including Office, mail, special programmes. Peace. 🙂
(Are you in my “hometown” Paris?)

    • No, I’m not in Paris. I wish. I’m in my neck of the woods, But that pic of me under the Eiffel Tower sends me back again to that beautiful city.

I plan to buy an I-pad, too, and maybe replace this troublesome Lenovo with a better brand.

  7. I’m looking forward to your new blog. About Windows 10, many people have the same problem that you experienced. Don’t know if you read it on my blog, but I purchased a new computer with Windows 10, and had to return and exchange it because the updates rendered it unbootable, and restoring to before the update resulted in losing everything. I exchanged it for a Windows 8.1 and refuse to update to Windows 10.

The Geek Squad told me that Windows released 10 before they got the problems fixed, and so many computers have been returned to the store that they have stopped updating 8.1 with 10.

You can refuse the update when getting the notification on your computer.

    Reply

    • Unbootable ! ! ! That’s exactly what’s happening to my computer. I should have used that term.. UNBOOTABLE ! ! And it seems tthis computer prefers McAfee, because it reinstalls everytime. Norton and McAfee don’t mesh , I guess, so Norton uninstalls it first before it installs Norton. I pay for Norton, so I want it in my computer, but this computer either corrupts it ( according to Norton ) or actually uninstalls.

      Reply

      • Twice when I allowed updates on my Windows 7, it would not reboot. I returned it to the setting before the update and all I lost was a document. Then I learned that I could turn off the automated updates or choose to allow or disallow them.

Windows 10 does not give an option to turn off automated updates.

If you don’t want McAfee and it’s erasing your Norton, try uninstalling McAfee first. The McAfee that comes with the computer or with Windows 10, is only a free version for so long, then they want you to purchase a subscription.

        Reply

        • That’s what Norton does. They uninstall it first, uninstall the corrupted Norton, then reinstalls it. I just went to that site where I can turn off the automatic updates, and choose to allow or disallow them. I checked out my log off options, and the ” Update and Shut down option wasn’t there. I hope it means it worked.

    • There’s a link here, courtesy of RVJohn. It’s helpful, so you can go there, too, just in case. This Windows Update ‘s gone to the point where it totally stops whatever it is I’m doing, and all I can do is turn off the power, not log off and shut down normally.

  11. Didn’t know you are also into gaming. As per Persona, I just finished P4G but haven’t (or won’t) done the 2nd playthrough.

I don’t know if it just me but I always resize down my pictures before uploading. That is actually also the reason why I made them non-clickable since they are in the size already displayed. This way, I am saving upload times and the *free* storage given by WordPress.

Ganda pa rin as ever 😉

    • I have P4 still in its cellophane case, unplayed. I ill play it soon. ( something to talk about on my new blogsite ) But know what, I have over 200 games in my collection, and not all have been played yet. Some re unfinished, like Resident Evil. I have the complete series, all unfinished. I’m so bad at killing zombies. Ha ha ha

      Reply

      • Have you already started the new blog? Link?

I have also other games already started but unfinished. I am still trying to find some time to start them up. I have Metal Gear Solid 4 (?) which I am almost at the end but since the game is very hard, I still can’t finish through lol.

        Reply

        • wehave the complete series of MGS. My brother owns it, and sheesh, he’s a hard core gamer. Do you know he finished MGS games without killing anyone, except the bosses ? he says there’s some sort of trophy for that. The creator of the game is a pacifist, Hojima, I think. After the last one, ( not yet out ) he’s going to leave Konami.

Know, I haven’t started the blog yet, but soon, I hope. It will be mostly manga and animes, by the way, and less of video games.

I highly recommend Persona 3 FES, if you can get hold of one. It’s 2007’s Game of the Year. If you liked P4, you would like this more. What else have you played ?

          Reply

          • Wow. Your brother is really hardcore. I assume his patience and time most specially is very long!

I love the Tales series. I wasn’t able to play all of them but had already finished some of them. I am actually into gaming way back but started late on console gaming (poor back then and still poor now lol). I am basically more into JRPGs. Well it is just too bad MH is not on Vita. Huhuhu

  16. Dear Ren —– I had the exact same problem with my HP touchsmart all-in-one computer and I agree that the link you have been provided to get rid of the unwanted download is helpful because it is very similar to the one I used.

But I am not giving you another link that may provide more information for you to combat this problem.

If any of this becomes confusing then I suggest you find a friend …. probably in college …. who is a computer geek and get them to help you with the update problem.

Here is the link I have found useful:

    http://www.infoworld.com/article/2974479/microsoft-windows/how-to-get-rid-of-the-your-upgrade-to-windows-10-is-ready-lock-on-windows-update-in-win7-and-8-1.html

    Reply

    • Thank you for the link, Sir John. I did go there, but it looks too complicated for a tech challenged like moi. The link given by RV John, whose comment is here, is easier and I was able to do it. The ” Update and Shut Down Option is gone. I don’t know though if it will hold up . Why is Windows doing this, I wonder ?

      Reply

      • I think they are doing it because they actually want all their users to convert to windows 10. Some people are calling this unwanted download a virus because it is done automatically in the background on some computers and is draining more than 2 whole gigabytes of bandwidth just for the background download they are doing. A lot of people are reconsidering going to a LINUX operating system where stuff like this doesn’t happen. But LINUX isn’t always as easy as windows to operate. Anyways, it is my understanding that Windows 7 will be useful for another 5 years from now and there is some possibility they might extend that for another period of time just like they did with windows 8.

        Reply

        • not only that, it stops whatever I’m doing, completely, and the only way I can escape is to turn off the POWER , instead of properly logging off and shutting it down. Then, the worst thing that happens is when I turn on the computer again , NOTHING….. it’s UNBOOTABLE, it’s doesn’t boot at all, although user will see some options a person can take, like REFRESH PC…. but it deletes some files, most importantly my internet security which is already paid for. I like Norton because it completely scans my computer for viruses every 3 days.

  17. You said you are having problems posting pictures on your blog. Do you think it is because you have exceeded your storage allowance? (You can purchase additional storage space) or is it because your photos are too large? (They can be edited in your photo program down to 500px which is the normal size used by a lot of computer platforms …. you can get by with 350px even … but some of the photos I have seen before editing come in at over 4,000 px and I always have to adjust their size (Resize) before posting them to the blog. Message me at my e-mail if you want to and we can discuss the photo problem a little and maybe work something out that might be of help to you. john(dot)liming783(at)gmail(dot)com.

  18. Haha… Well, I don’t know much ( or maybe, anything ) about Manga and video games, but I quite like when you share stuff about it. In my ever-so-humble opinion, don’t let demographics/statistics/likes/comments mislead you: people like to read you because you write on variety of topics, manga and games included. And moreover, you are not writing because you want to tap the market 😉 But of course, thats just my point of view. Will follow the new site as well, if you happen to make one.

I can understand your lack of time, and it is quite alright to be occupied. But do drop in like once a couple of months or something. At least, we know that you have not abandoned the site ( lot of friends have, sadly ).

Good to know that you are keeping up your wit 🙂 Looking forward to presidential election race myself…

    • tatsat, there are thousands of animes/mangas/ and video games as my source of materials. Even if I tackle 5 stories per post, it will take years before I exhaust the topics for discussion, and that’s not counting the fact that hundreds of mangas are published every month.

Over here, my topics are very limited, ( I have a boring , routine life, ha ha ) unless I include stuff like , ” today, I baked a cake, and had bacon for breakfast . ” , then I post a pic of the cake and the bacon. The End. lol

Garden of Words and if you want a real fun long episodic anime, Hunter xHunter is one. Maybe cowboy bebop…. o, and Death Note. Hollywood got the right s to film this, I heard. And Cowboy Bebop will be filmed in Hollywood too, starring keannu Reeves. Do you have Hulu ?

It’s the right thing to do. Garden of Words has gorgeous graphics. The details are amazing. You have to watch it for that reason alone.

I didn’t think twice about not updating to window 10. I heard so many bad things about it. Every time it tried to remind me, I would decline.

    • What is Windows 10 doing wrong, I wonder. My gosh, it always makes my computer unbootable ! !

Young Japanese /Korean actors are horrible ! ! ! They actually think their kind of acting is cute. You’ve seen The Thing called Tadhana , right ? Mom says that’s not even considered good acting in the Philippines, but it’s 10x much better than these Korean/Japanese live actions. And don’t get me started on their adaptations from romance manga. I wish I could show how they act. I’m very good mimicking them. Bahahaha !

I was so excited to watch Baslisk live action, because it was my favorite anime at the time. It was so romantic and gory. Then I watched the live action, and I was so angry because the effects were horrible, acting horrible! Same with Death note!
But with Japanese and Korean romance movies oh they are so cute! The Japanese cinematography is dreamy and romantic.

  23. I chose to update from Windows 8 to 10. The only problems I encountered were when I dropped Norton to go cheaper with Avast, and began getting errors where I always needed to restore to a previously workable point. After 2 months I dropped the free Avast trial and went back to Norton– and all is well again. Hope you’re computer operates more to your liking.

Now, regarding windows 10. I also have windows 8.1 and my update system is always sneakily trying to get me to install Windows 10, and I now manually activate “Install updates” and make sure “Windows 10” is not among them as the very kind of things which have happened to you and many others are the last thing I need. I am not too computer literate so it would be a disaster. Your post has been a good reminder of the dangers.
