Hello, there. Renxkyoko Iglesias here.
My last post was about crying at sad movies, and I listed down some of the movies that tugged at my heartstrings. But I forgot one…. the last Toy Story movie. I cried at that part where grown -up Andy bequeathes gives away his beloved treasures toys to a little girl. Well, I did exactly the same thing this week. I finally said goodbye to my beloved Barbie doll and Toy Story collection and donated them to , I hope, a deserving brat child who will take care of my stuff lovingly.
.In that box are over a hundred beautiful Barbie gowns and dresses, a revolving dress closet, kitchen, dresser, ( I gave away that stupid cute barbie car a long time ago), etc. and most importantly, my Toy Story toys… Woody, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Jessie, and sadly, my beloved Buzz Lightyear. * Buzz, parting is such sweet sorrow. But I’m an adult now. I can’t play with you anymore. So, here’s to you, pal…. To Virginity Infinity and Beyond !!!!! *
Oh. I’m keeping my complete collection of Pokemon cards. Sorry, kid. You don’t know what my mother I went through to complete it. Not gonna happen.
So…….. here’s part 2 of my fun vacation in the Philippines, as promised.
We spent the first few days after our arrival visiting malls, shopping, and tasting Filipino foods and delicacies at the mall food courts. So, okay, not all were Filipino foods, like this Japanese omurice rice ( fried rice wrapped in omelette ) and sizzling steak with mushroom gravy.
That red thing is ketchup. I think Filipinos love ketchup., seriously. I mean, my father drowns his sunny side up in that thing and my Mom does it with French fries. Half a bottle of ketchup is used up for medium sized fries. Oh, and it has to be Del Monte catsup, not Hunt’s, nor Heinz… Eh, what am I saying …..
.Steak, with rice, and I don’t know if you can see the sunny side up, but it’s there, with the carrots and beans. Ha ha What a combo. Both dishes are USD 2 each. Cheap, huh.
Photos below are of family reunion at our house.
That’s me in the photo, looking bored. But I wasn’t bored. I was concentrating on the Monopoly game.
Just a few slice of life photos above.
The following day, we were invited by a relative to see the smallest volcano in the world, Taal Volcano , located about an hour drive ( 50 km./31 mi ) from our house. Taal Volcano is active, in fact, there were so much seismic activities that were detected in 2011. Its last violent eruption was in 1977.
The drive to Taal was quite interesting . Our relative, who was also the driver, played the same songs over and over again… ABBA, Tears for Fears, and one singer whose name I can’t recall at the moment. Worse, she and my Mom knew the lyrics… so yeah. * You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen….lalala ” . The singing was interrupted when Mom opened the glove compartment and saw a small gun. ” What the h*ll ! ” So, okay, our relative ia a senior Prosecutor in the city of Manila, and that gun was issued to her by the mayor for her protection. Three years ago, she prosecuted the mistress of a rich man for attempted murder. Our relative received death threats purportedly made by the mistress’s relative. They are now both in jail. And our relative assured us there were no bullets in the gun. Still…. Anyway, they continued singing. It drove me crazy. And then I saw this……
Then this…..
.Can you read it ? It says ” Warning. P 2,000 ( $46) Minimum Payment for Bumping Barrier. ” Ha ha ha ! We don’t have that here in the US !
Well, I have to stop here. Part 2 of our Taal Volcano trip will be on my next post.
Thank you for reading , folks ! be well, and PEACE !
.

Goodbye Barbie
Goodbye Ken!
Thanks for the ride.
Life in plastic, was fantastic!
Posted by renxkyoko on September 29, 2014 at 4:57 pm
Oh, yes… I had Ken. I had no accesories for him. I bought him wearing a suit, and that was all he had. Poor Ken.
Playing with Barbie gave me immense joy. I was a new immigrant kid then, and played alone all thru my childhood days. I think my parents overcompensated by buying me so many stuff to play with.
Ooooh, now I’m feeling nostalgic.

Love that Barbie case. I hope you had a nice trip.
Thank you too for your recent visit and support.xo
Posted by renxkyoko on September 29, 2014 at 4:48 pm
It was a lovely trip, Debra. And I liked that barbie case too. I gave it away so that the kid can have the complete set. I didn’t want to give half-heartedly.
You have my prayers and support, Deb. I’;m sorry for your loss…. oh, gosh, what else can I say. It’s hard.

Are the eyes blurred out in those pictures or is it my eyes??
Posted by renxkyoko on September 29, 2014 at 3:52 pm
I blurred the eyes. I have many readers from the Philippines. I don’t want them to see someone familiar and tell them , hey your pic is on WordPress ! ( Worse, for me, I had talked about them on my previous posts… yikes ! )

Great shots Renx, I bet you were downright brutal on Monopoly raking in all the profits 😛
Posted by renxkyoko on September 29, 2014 at 4:29 pm
Take no prisoners, that’s my motto. He he he Actually, we tried it once ( or twice ) with real money. Whoever wins get the whole lot. lol

Warning well received! I shall stay clear of your monopoly lol 😛

I think one of the movies that made me shed tears the most was “E.T.” – – the film about the little extra-terrestrial that got stuck on earth and needed to get back home.
The next one was a movie called, “Ghost” and the great crying scene was at the end of the movie when the ghost appeared to his soul-mate who had not yet died and they played this really haunting song . . . my tears flowed shamelessly at this one.
I love a good crying movie once in awhile because it kind of cleans me out and refreshes me in some strange fashion.
Posted by renxkyoko on October 1, 2014 at 4:14 am
Ghost made me shed tears too, especially when he says his final goodbye, and says, I love you, Molly… then he starts to disappear into the light. We have a dvd copy of the movie, and I think I watched it several times, and without fail, I’d cry at the ending.
Tears cleanse our tear ducts too. It’s good for us to cry once in a while.
Cheers, Sir John.

Pokemon cards. You reminded me of Haunter, my favorite Pokemon. Never wanted him to evolve. Haha!
Posted by renxkyoko on October 3, 2014 at 4:22 am
I do want to give them away, Bro. Allen. But when i saw the album again, I just couldn’t, even though it was just sitting in the shelf, gathering dust.

I am feeling you Ren, you parted with some wonderful treasures there and that is hard to do, but it shows what is alive in your heart! When you give and share happiness always blossoms within your own heart and those who you share with,,,hugs!

I still can’t part with my Pokemon collection, Wendell Brown. Maybe later? I’m sure I’ll get to it.

Reading this reminded me of the emotion I felt when my mother gave away my first and only train set. I was very distressed, although not encouraged to say so. I am hopelessly sentimental about these kind of things, and I probably would have kept that doll, in case I had a daughter or a niece who could enjoy it in due time, but then I am very silly as we know
Posted by renxkyoko on October 3, 2014 at 5:07 am
A train set ! ! I remember my brother feeling very sad leaving his train set in the Philippines when we immigrated to the US.

I’m pretty sure if I know someone I would be able to recognize them even with the eyes blurred.
Also, a gun without bullets is like . . . well, I’m not religious, but I imagine it would be like prayers without god.
Posted by renxkyoko on October 3, 2014 at 4:13 am
Maybe she lied ? My mother didn’t check if it was loaded or not. She closed the compartment immediately and asked her why she had a gun there. So she told us the story. In fact, she had a bodyguard for 2 months. The case was a failed hit job.
I think you’re right about the blurred faces. Hmmm, I blur it some more.

Ketchup used to be my all time favorite food. I think, if needed, I could survive on ketchup with the occasional dose of chocolate. 😛

I guess I do too. o.Oa I put lots of ketchup on my omelette.

I love ketchup, Heinz is the best. I use ketchup and mayo on my fries. Yum!!!
when my niece was little, she was so obsessed with ketchup, we couldnt say ketchup, and she would just eat it as is. gross! 🙂
