M.Pacquiao, Philippine boxer, wins again

It was quite an exciting fight, and this time, I managed to watch without running away and hiding in my room, haha. But I did cover my face the whole time, and peeped through my fingers covering my face. Frankly,  I don’t really like boxing. I think it’s such a brutal sport. It didn’t help seeing  Manny Pacquiao’s opponent’s face  all smashed up early in the fight, and , they say,  he’s in fact going to retire after having his optical bone shattered . To his credit, Pacquiao said the referee should have stopped the fight as  this is not what boxing is all about. I agree 100%.  Watching these 2 fighters slugging it out, and my family and 9 guests yelling and shouting with such delight, I had visions of Roman spectators doing the same thing, urging  gladiators to fight to the death.  Having said that, I have to admit I am elated he won. He is, after all, a Filipino, like myself. I just wish another Filipino would accomplish something as great in a, uhm, less brutal fashion,  ( 6_6)’, let’s say, in science or in the arts.

Ah, Harry Potter !  You bet I’m going to go to the cinema and watch it on big screen. < laughs > Okay, I know I’m too old for this, but I’m still interested  to see how the main actors have grown through all these years. It’s sad  Daniel Radcliff  is vertically challenged, ahaha, but I still feel great affection for the guy. Not swooning  anymore, though.  ( ^__^)”

But, what’s this ? Is this just a part of the hype or is this an honest – to goodness modern day Quidditch sport , in real life ?   I can’t believe something like this is going on in America. This is just ridiculous. Well, a Quidditch World Tournament is ongoing somewhere in New York City with 46 teams competing. Don’t hold your breath. They are not flying…. they just run around with broomsticks tucked between their legs .  For real, I’m not kidding. I’ve seen the video. But here’s one …. Harvard students practicing the sport. And they look so serious  and earnest too…. well , good for them. I wish them luck !  Ahahaha !

What is Quidditch?  It’s a sport in Harry Potter books, much like a basketball, except the players fly.  Indulge me and read on. Hahaha !  < clears throat> So, okay, there’s a goalpost, like basketball’s basket, a Quaffle that is made of leather, (  shaped like a football ) and the Golden Snitch, that walnut – sized thing that a Seeker has to capture , alone, while his teammates try to score on the goalposts. Usually, the best flier in the team becomes the Seeker. Harry Potter is a Seeker, the youngest , so far, in Quidditch history. * coughs*. The part of a Seeker has supposedly the most glamorous role in the team, but at the same time, receives the worst injuries.  ” Take out the Seeker! ”  is an opponent’s team battlecry. It’s difficult to score a goal, and  if the Seeker  catches  the Golden Snitch, it’s game over, since it’s worth 12 points.  Okay, enough…. < bangs head on pillow >

Yes! I am now officially a Geek !  I’m taking off my * coughs * glamorous *coughs* Muggle outfit, and now donning my Gryffindor  robe.

Well, this is all for now. I’m off to reread the last book in the series, and hopefully, get to see Harry Potter this week, and write my $ 0.02 worth , and you bet it’s going to be a good one, no matter what. Bye and peace !

    Snitches are 150 points. 😉

    • 150 pts? (6_6) That’s a lot. No wonder you couldn’t resist correcting that, huh. Hahhaahaha

Well, yeah.. 😛 Quaffle shots that go in the hoops are 10 points each. xD

        • Eh? I didn’t know that ! The game was never discussed on Mugglenet podcast. (^___^)…Where did you get these figures? I don’t remember the mechanics of the game being described in the book.. Maybe it’s in the first book………

Yeah, in the first book when Oliver Wood was teaching the basics and the rules to Harry.

            • Hehe I guess i was so into whether he’d live or die that I’d forgotten details like that. I read each book so many times to look for clues or hints, but I didn’t pay attention to Oliver Wood explaining the rules of the game….. hahaha.

Things like that just get stuck in my head even if I don’t want to remember them.. 😐 Like, how do you get to the Hogwarts kitchens? Haha

    • I used to know how to get there……. it’s somewhere near a statue……..@__@…… I forget…….. damn….. where is it?

You tickle the pear on a still-life painting of a bowwl of fruits which can be found neear the Hufflepuff Dorms.. xD

        • How can you remember these details? lol

I really need to reread the books. I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff, even the names of the main characters, but the books are so thick, i just don’t have time anymore…… but semester’s gonna end soon, middle of December, and Christmas Holidays and semestral vacation are lumped together so I go back to school end of January. I digress again. So, from what book did you read about the kitchen?

Did you watch the Manny Pacquiao fight?

I’m a Potthead, so go figure.. Haha.. It’s from the 4th one I think.

Nah, I didn’t watch the fight. Not really into brutal sports like that.. Anyway, even my parents think it’s all over-glorified.

            • Aww, really ? We should have met years and years ago, well, at least just before the last book came out. We could have discussed HP to death. ( laughs) And I thought I had a photographic memory….. I guess it’s selective.

Ah, it’s so refreshing to know there’s at least another person in the world who doesn’t think the sun shines out of M. Pacquiao. It’s almost obscene the way millions of boxing fans idolize him. ( high five)

Lol.. Turned this page into a chat box.. xD

D’you think that book 7 was a bit rushed?

I didn’t want to say this during the fight because I feared for my life (Haha) but I secretly wanted him to loose. xDD

Jeeeezus.. D’you know that his CD’s actually are best-sellers? Gah, I’d rather shoot myself in the head than listen to his songs. 😐

    • Oh, no! I love it. At least I know someone is reading and responding. Otherwise, I’d be like ” shadow boxing”, ( pun intended , haha)

A bit rushed ? Nah uh….. I’ve been reading this since I was a kid in pigtails, and I assume you’ve been reading it too since elementary. The ending was awesome, especially that part when Kreacher and his gang charged with kitchen things like ladles, haha. And there’s a prologue ( or is it epilogue ), so we at least get to know what happens to the main characters. So, why do you think it was a bit rushed?

No kidding ! I did wish that too, and told my father and brother that just to shut them up. lol

Whoa! Really ? Hahaha ! How many cd’s does he have ? He had a concert here in California, in Lake Tahoe, about an hour from our place. Believe it or not, the venue was full. ( tears up )

Hmm.. Well, when the book was published, J.K. Rowling came up with all this “Dumbledore was gay” stuff. Some of the things that were not published should definitely been included, like all that happened before the train station scene in the epilogue. xD

The Philippines.. I dunno.. Just idolizes Pacquiao too much.. When there are others things that you could be proud of, like when so-so (example) gets this award for his/her research in cancer.. Man, news like that would only be mentioned in passing while Pacquiao winning his 8th fight would be news for a month or two. Literally.

I think he has two recorded albums already.. Can’t be sure ‘coz.. Well, I don’t really care. Har har

        • Oh, I see. I guess JKR thought she should leave that to our imagination. Ginny and Harry got together, married, and had babies, yay! Likewise with Ron and Hermione. But I see what you mean. However, giving us details would have been super anti-climactic. To me, it’s enough to know that my much beloved Harry is living a happy, “normal” life.

I reread the epilogue and didn’t see anything about what happened to Luna. But I know what happened to Luna, and so many other things, like, Harry teaches part -time at Hogwarts, Ginny is a sports writer, Luna spends her time travelling looking for, , whachamacallit ? snarkles?, George has a thriving business, and Ron and Hermione….. .

Seriously, though, I would have liked to know how George coped without Fred. Oh my gosh, and Colin Creevy ! ! I really hated it that JKR killed off these two. Their deaths were so unnecessary, don’t you think so? Especially Colin…. damn.

Yes, I know what you mean about Pacquiao. What are your thoughts on rumors he’s going to run as President in the future? Hahaha ! It’s just a joke, right? (6_6) …….. o.Oa…….Geezzuz. Nah, I don’t think so. Filipinos have short memories. But , on second thought, it’s always been dictatorship of the proletariat with Philippine politics. What the masses want, go. Popular actors with an IQ of 75 go into politics and they always win, because they are what the masses want. Ahh, but this is another , more serious topic. It’s 4:30 AM. lol

Well, it was a war. I’m actually more surprised that Rowling didn’t kill off one of the trio. Really, I was expecting that.

You have no idea. It’s just crazy. It’s been already, what, almost a week? Still, the news programs here just. won’t. QUIT. They, like, really report EVERYTHING happening to him, like what he bought for his kids, the hotel room he favors when he’s in Congress (Yep, he’s an effing Congressman). It is just INSANE the amount of time people waste on him, really. It’s like this every effing time he wins a match. *rantmode_off*

            On another note..

            Nyahaha.. xD

            • No ! ! She wouldn’t dare ! ! And I just knew she wouldn’t off Harry, or else her hero, and the series itself would go into oblivion. Who wants a dead hero? I’d burn the books and I’d really do that. And I’d curse her and people would get so mad at her no one in his/her right mind would ever buy her books again.

I listened to one of her interviews in New York, and if I recall correctly, it was Stephen King ( yeah, that Stephen King ) who asked her this question….. if you’d have dinner with any of the characters, who ( or is it whom) would you invite ? She replied, I’d invite the trio ( meaning Harry , Ron, and Hermione ), Hagrid, and Dumbledore. Oh, not Dumbledore. He died…… and then there was a momentary silence, and she kind of corrected herself, I forget what she said, haha, but it was a great clue. She inadvertently revealed the ending.

About Pacquiao….. I can just imagine what’s going on there, lol. About his mother what’s-her-name ? Is she also the flavor the month? (^____^)

  4. Very interesting topic and useful post. It really help me. Thanks.
