California’s Legislature passed a bill banning the use of plastic bags ! Finally ! I’m jumping for joy ! My family have been using special "green" shopping bags that we bring everytime we go shopping. The only downside here is , we use these plastic bags to line our waste bins.  So, what do we use for liners now ? They say in case we forget our own shopping bag, we have to pay 25 c per bag. Wow, that’s expensive. We have at least 7 waste bins in the house, so that would be $ 1. 75 a day ? or maybe if we’re more careful, we can make it last , up to 3 days of trash before we tie it and throw it away.  Oh, well, we’ll cross the bridge when we come to it. Win some, lose some. That’s life.

 

I was talking to a friend last night, and I asked her why I couldn’t let go of things that have been bothering me for quite some time now, and well, she said something that she probably thought I had ignored because I didn’t respond to that, but, it kind of jolted me. She said " You really don’t want to lose, do you ? "……………………..< long pause >…………. I’ve never thought of myself as competitive, but come to think of it, there were so many instances when I felt I had to be on top of a given situation……………. * shakes head *……..No, I don’t think so, but it did give me something to ponder upon and mull over. Anyway, my friend, I’d like you to know that I’ve thought things over last night, and thank you, I ‘ve decided to give up. It is indeed as I’ve said to you before, a truly hopeless situation, as hopeless as me going to Mars. I accept this with a heavy heart, and , I do need to admit  I am a wimp. ….. But,  I don’t have to climb Mt. Everest anymore, that’s one thing.  I’m at peace. Thank you.

 

Well, what else ? What can I talk about ? Politics ? Health care reform? The devastating oil spill somewhere in the  Gulf of Mexico ?  The super tense situation between South and North Korea, and between Israel and Palestine ? Starving children of Somalia? Democrats vs Republicans ? Continuing war in Iraq and Afghanistan ? There are thousands I can talk about and give my $ 0.02 worth of opinion.  But, I’ll save this for some other day.  I mean, these aren’t happy topics. That oil spill , for instance , is just soooo depressing. Just when more people are starting to realize the need to preserve our environment, the oil spill happens.  And that image of one pelican covered in thick , gooey oil is so heartbreaking.  What the heck happened ? And to think some flippin’ politicians ( not democrats, mind you ) are thinking of allowing drilling on California coast. No, you don’t . Not in my backyard.
